Summary
The dreams of every high school boy: To have beautiful women fighting over him. The nightmare of every high school boy: Beautiful women trying to kill him? Yuuya Kamigasaki is a normal female-form-loving high school boy, until the day that two beautiful princesses come to his world to tell him he’s the hero of theirs. The trouble? Those princess are on opposite sides, and one is doing everything in her power to keep the other from "reincarnating" him by force!

Yuuya Kamigasaki is living the life any high-school boy would dream of: he's got a house to himself, classes he can sleep through, and a childhood friend next door who grew into a total babe. But when an otherworldly princess with looks to die for shows up in his room and asks him to become the hero that will save her people, how can a guy refuse? That is, until he realizes she's asked him to get reincarnated, and plans to send him through the great cycle of death and rebirth herself!

Goodbye! Isekai Tensei review

Honestly, I think this is a great premise.

With the overabundance of isekai out there it's almost refreshing for a story to be about not becoming an isekai. I thought it was a cool twist (you'll learn this in the first or second chapter) to have the heroine be the antagonist and the antagonist become the heroine...if that makes sense. Basically, the daughter of the human kingdom is trying to kill the main character so that he can reincarnate and wipe out the demons. The daughter of the demon lord is trying to protect the main character so that he isn't reincarnated and wipe out her race. On paper, this is a really cool subversion of an isekai where the protagonist is trying to stay alive and not be reincarnated.

However, this isn't that good.

It's decent. I wouldn't necessarily say it's bad or a waste of a read, but it really lacks a lot after a premise as cool as that.

Technically, this is an ecchi and a harem, though those aspects are underwhelming too. A lot of the comedy comes with Yuya (the main character) being upfront about his ogling of women and the women either trying to protect or kill him. It does get serious for very brief moments, but first and foremost this is a light series that is meant for pure enjoyment.

That said, it's super weird.

Every aspect of the story doesn't feel like it's been thought out that well nor done much with. What's frustrating is that it's not even what you'd expect, it lands one step away from expectations.

Not much character work was presented and I don't think I understand the rushed explanations for everything, but it filled an afternoon.

At the end of the day, I can only see a wasted premise, and don't even get me started on what happened in the last few pages because...sigh.
