Wakasugita Hakushaku Fujin review

This was frankly more interesting than I expected it to be. Something about it was darker than some of the more classic shoujo manga, especially starting off with a death in such a manner. As you guys can see, it's a one-shot, but it's a pretty long one. It's pretty well developed for being so short.

To put it simply, the story was pretty well done. Were there assaulty plot elements? Yes, but I guess I've become inured to them after delving into the shoujo genre. The rest of the plot was similar to Hapi Mari?! but a little darker and moodier. I liked it.

The art was pretty. Nothing was too overdrawn and nothing looked stupid. Most everything looked at least vaguely natural. Well, other than the kiss/sex scenes... those were drawn a little oddly, but then again, since half of the characters were hid from view, I guess that can be given a pass.

The characters were a little cliche, but the way they interacted felt more fresh compared to almost exact plots I've seen. Perhaps it was the expertise of the author. Prepare for the cliches still. If I had to guess, I might even say this was a fanfiction/spin-off/one-shot for Hapi Mari?! The similarities are intense to the point where they don't seem like coincidences.

Overall, I actually enjoyed this, which was odd because I didn't expect to at all.

I would recommend this if you: like Hapi Mari?!, like playboy tropes, like rich businessman tropes, like pretend-married tropes, like jealousy and fear of loving someone who doesn't care about you, like smut/kissing scenesish, like cliche romances

I would not recommend this if you: don't like cliches, don't like Hapi Mari?!, are highly offended by the shoujo cliches of assault

Have a great day everyone!
