Summary
Yuu is famous for having an extreme brother complex. In reality, she has emotions for her little brother, Hiro, which have far exceeded a normal sisterly love. A little complicated family love comedy from the author of "Hyakko." This is a story of forbidden love with an older sister, a younger brother and their half sibling Tomo as well. (Source: M-U)

Yuuhi Romance is basically a stab at some incestuous romance, with plenty of comedy mixed in for good measure. Sadly there’s absolutely nothing that allows this short manga to stand out amongst others of its kind.

Yuu is the older sister, Hiro is the younger brother, Yuu loves her younger brother… That’s basically is how every damned chapter begins and it’s annoying as hell. The beginning actually laid out the plot really well and sets this up to be a very interesting manga, dealing with the issue of forbidden romance. But very quickly the 3 “R”s set in and proved to be its major downfall: Repetition, Randomness and utter Retardation. To sum it up, every chapter feels like a oneshot, focusing on any random idea that the mangaka plucked out of thin air.

So in the end the story lacked continuality and in turn this meant the characters didn’t develop. It’s just good that out of all the characters that can be remembered there were quite a few likable ones, in turn making the characters the strongest aspect of this manga. But that's not much of point in its favour, when you take into account the rest of this manga.

Like the artwork that can be simply described as “messy”. The character designs were inconsistent, to some degree, meaning that any kind of fine detail, you’re use to seeing, in a manga's character's features are basically non-existent. Some people may not mind the subpar art but I for one did not care for this lazy mangaka’s illustrations.

Overall Yuuhi Romance is just one of the stories that can be read and enjoyed because it’s short and sweet, but can also be a wasteful experience. It just merely depends on what category of audience you’ll fit in and in my case I would be in the latter category.

Yuuhi Romance had potential by chapter 5 end, but after that everything went haywire, from chapter 6 onwards most chapters were abt 8 pages long, while b4 that at least 1x to 2x pages. Chapter 11, the last chapter, is a collection of gags, character introductions and 4-koma, has 3x pages. Chapters 9 and 10 were ok, given that they clear up some of the story where chapter 5 left off. Chapters 6,7,8 were just random, and abt 8 pages long so dun expect much.

Story:4
Story content is bad. There wasn't much to go around in the first place, and the story kept jumping genres, romance, school life, slice of life, harem etc. There is no main genre, and no focus or plot either. You can read it for gags and zoom past the pages as there is almost no deep emotions or storyline portrayed.

Bright side of this series is that I love the presentation methods used. Flashback method, abstract presentation method, recorder zooming method etc. instead of just a straight sequencing presentation of events.

Art:3
Probably the worst aspect of this series. Inconsistent art, esp character designs. Some went through a revamp over a few chapters, and the drawing is not very good either. Esp the eyes, sometimes they look like a "battle rooster's eyes", both eyes facing the nose.

Character:4
Bad. Almost no character development, some chapters were used for gags instead of crucial explanation etc. Take chapter 5 for example. Chapter 6 was based on something entirely unrelated. Characters were introduced then abandoned, side and main characters were just used for events, but you can't really see their unique characteristics.

Enjoyment: 6
To be honest, until chapter 5 I expected the story to become very good, similar to KissxSis, but o well. Enjoyed it less and less over the remaining 6 chapters.

Overall:6
Ah, after this series I'm quite hesitant to read Hyakko, another series by same mangaka. O well, if you enjoy short series like this, read Strange Mansion, which is of a higher quality level and about deviants.
