Sumarin Kanojo-tachi review
Plot summary: A complete idiot somehow manages (before the story starts) to get married, have a young child, and then start separate affairs with his boss and a pretty, young escort. The story begins as he reconnects with the girl he once had a crush on in high school--supposedly the one woman he ever loved. Most of the first two volumes are about the idiot trying to not get caught as he tries to balance all of these competing romantic entanglements on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I didn't get past that point.

**Out of morbid curiosity, I decided to skim the rest of the manga. Surely it gets better, right? Actually... not really. The guy is still an idiot and asshole, who is still surrounded by beautiful women that inexplicably want to sleep with him. He still neglects his wife and kid. The only thing that changes is that the slapstick comedy slows down in favor of an increase in drama that is straight out of a day-time tv soap opera. Read at your own risk.***

Story (3): The fact that an idiot and asshole like him could attract the attention of so many beautiful women strains credibility. The fact that he's not been caught yet--despite being insanely careless--is completely unbelievable. But, if you like watching an idiot cheater almost get caught a dozen times in a dozen ways, this is for you. The first chapter implies at some point down the road he will get caught--I gave up before then.

Art (7): The art is good, I'll give it that. The character models are distinct and the backgrounds are well drawn. It's not the best looking manga I've ever read, but it's solid. And the sex scenes are well done, although there probably aren't enough of them, if that's the only reason you're reading this.

Character (2): One of the worst protagonists that I've ever run across. Most harem MCs are bland, oblivious nice guy. This is a bland, oblivious guy who maybe once was nice, but now is screwing every woman who smiles at him and blatantly neglecting his kid in the process. The women all seem like reasonably capable people, except that you have no idea why any of them are attracted to the main character.

Enjoyment (3): Some of the "will he get caught or won't he" hi-jinks aren't awful. If I hadn't started rooting against the main character at the start, they might have been funny or suspenseful. Instead, I was disappointed whenever the MC got away with something; that was most of the manga, at least the part that I read.

Overall (4): The art work and sex scenes keep this from being a completely trash manga. Still, unless you enjoy reading manga about a complete idiot flushing his life down the drain, I'd go elsewhere.

Luger Code 1951 review
I guess I'll be the first review for Luger Code 1951. I actually only chose to read the manga because it's getting an anime adaptation this fall season (2016), and it just caught my interest honestly. I'm actually kind of impressed as well, because if I remember correctly, this was just a contest submission and yet it's pretty good.

Story - The reason this is ranked lowest is purely because the manga is so short, only 3 chapters to be exact. It's basically a story about a war against the Loup-Garou's, which is just another word for wolf people. They can change and males can take form of humans, while females can change to regular wolfs at night. I enjoyed the little conflict they went through and the intro of the characters nicely. It's very open ended, so it's leaves a lot of room for expanding on the horizon. It's actually one of the main things that worries me about the upcoming anime, because I'll be pretty dissapointed if it spans the entire 3 chapters over the entirety of the anime. Yes the chapters were moderate length, but nowhere near enough to fill 10-12 episodes sufficiently. I'm hoping the anime will expand on it's own story.

Art - I'm not much of a stickler for art, but this looked very pleasing to the eyes and I enjoyed looking at the well induced features it offered. I hope more will come or that the anime does it justice.

Character - This is actually something I quite enjoyed, mainly 2 people. There are 3 main characters introduced in the manga. The male MC Testa, a young genius. Sergeant Rossa, Testa's senior during the operation at hand. Finally we have Yonaga, a Loup-Garou who was captured in order to crack the Loup-Garou's code. Yonaga in particular looks amazing and so well designed, but I guess I might just have a thing for cute wolf girls.

Enjoyment - I guess this is just me being biased in all honesty, but I just love war anime/manga like this. It just catches my interest and I like to read or watch it. I enjoyed the premise and hope the anime contiunes it and doesn't ruin the series but makes it even better.

Overall - Overall I think this was a great read regardless of how short it was. It gives you plenty of room to imagine what you want to happen because of how open it ended. Can't wait for the anime adaptation to air in October, very excited. Will probably post a seperate review for the anime standalone, and will likely refernce this one in it as well lmao. It might be a bad thing, but I have pretty high hopes for this, hoping Aniplex doesn't let me down.

Kaikisen review
I can't say that this plot is very original, the struggle between breaking tradition and changing for the better. Nevertheless, the story is made interesting by the incorporation of the mythical mermaid, and that is what really kept me going: the hope that Yosuke would get a glimpse of her. The thought of a mermaid egg is also peculiar and original. Otherwise, the plot moves along at a good pace over the span of seven chapters, and it is nonetheless inspiring and intriguing.

Yosuke is obviously the main character here, and he does shine as an individual. He doesn't have the strongest will in the beginning, especially since the conflict is within his family, but he begins to develop a backbone of the course of the story. Overall a great character with flaws that he is able to overcome.

It has been a while since I've read a seinen, but I can still recognize good art when I see it. This is an old manga, but tasteful. The characters have real noses and shapely bodies, all as close to human characteristics as possible. I was not so fond of the rectangular panels, but this is probably typical of 90s manga, so maybe it's just my preference. Otherwise nothing else is bad.

The rating I'd give this is 7/10. It isn't the most original story, but mythical creatures gives it a little bit of a boost, and sometimes a classic story like this never gets old. The characters act like real humans and look distinct and have varying personalities. The art is great and incredibly detailed, especially in terms of scenery. It was a pleasant read for a short period of time.

Darkside Blues review
After seeing the anime "Darkside Blues" and being interested in its story, I chose to buy and read the manga. Sadly, it didn't give me as many answers as I would have wanted about the story. It really leaves you kind of hanging in the middle (or should I say beginning?) just like the anime - which is why I rated the story a 3. Would it have been finished, it would probably be higher. But potential and loose ends unfortunately doesn't cut it for me.
Still, I'd say if you like spaced-out dystopias, a range of characters and seemingly more than shallow relations and plots, you may still be able to like the story.

I, however, do love the art. The crisp shading and defined lines that were often used in 80-ies manga really impress me, there is a lot of work behind the art, buildings and little details. The style is somewhat original, and I do believe it is worth taking a look at. I rated the art 9, because I sometimes get a bit annoyed at the bobble-heads the characters sometimes get.

I'd also say that the characters are interesting. You'd like to know more about almost all of them, they all seem to have stories and personalities rather than just being "female lead" or "bad guy". There is a nice sense of humanity in the characters that I can enjoy.
Some character progression works very well while some just isn't there, however. Especially the progression between Mai and Darkside. I would have wanted more story on those two, especially since they are more or less supposed to be the leading characters.

To sum it up, Darkside Blues isn't really the manga you'd pick up because you want to read something easy and enjoyable. It does answer some questions from the anime, which is greatly appreciated - and the art is (atleast for me) short to amazing. It is a strange story with depth and potential for something greater, but falls on its incompleteness. Still, it is one of my favorite books from my shelf and I am to this day not regretting having bought nor read it.
Lovely art, cut-off story, interesting characters but not a very easily melted plot. Overall I give this manga a 6.

Kimi wa Midara na Boku no Joou review
This manga has to go to horny jail!

Okay, unfunny jokes aside, this is a pretty bold story,it's always interesting to see a manga display matters of sexuallity in such an explicit manner,I personally see that as one of the many strengths of Inio Asano(Oyasumi Pun Pun,Sekai no Owari to Yoaki Mae) as an author,he displays it as a normal thing and doesn't fear showing it,and that gives a kind of sincerity to his work, but yeah...sometimes,at least for me,if you go too far on that, not only does it just become borderline hentai, but also laughable.
And well this is a comedy,so it makes sense that it's laughble, but that's the joke, they have sex, they're horny, and that's what carries the "comedy" aspect of the series, and it's also one of the only things that is slightly entertaining here. The story is painfully cliche, and it doesn't even try to not be,setting up all the stuff you've already seen in thousands of other potentially better written and funnier romantic commedies.
The art is pretty good,I personally like Mengo Yokoyari's character designs
specifically, and overall it's pretty solid,so no noteworthy problems there.
I also kind of liked Saito and Subaru, together, that is, their interactions are sometimes fun to read, (usually when they're not being repeteadly horny because why not),but there's not much depth to them individually either,Saito is an average dude whose character trait is being in love with the main girl, and Subaru is a donzel in distress, her quirk being that she is a sexually repressed tsundere, and that's pretty much it, and as I said, they're made slightly better by each other, wich is a good aspect, means they have a chemestry that the reader can identify.
So the commedy and the interactions between the two protagonists are what drive the series, and even that is not always great, you'll probably laugh at one joke or another, and smirk at some cute moments, but that's all the enjoyment the manga has to offer,it's a good thing that it's short, because I would probably not be that interested in going through to the end if it was longer.
Kimi wa Midara na Boku no Joou is a mediocre romance story that has good chemestry between the main characters, decent comedy and a story that will probably force those that demand even a small hince of originality to drop it even though it's so short; if you don't mind all the cliches and poor writing and think the characters and slightly funny jokes can carry you through this story, than go for it,if not,I advise against reading it.

Horrifically relatable exploration of societal system with deadpan humor attached to it. Will probably be more impactful for mature readers, especially those who found themselves at the bottom of class structure.

Sense of alienation is present from the start till the end, either caused by characters' own limitations or those imposed by the system itself. They are never exploited for the sake of shock factor but eerily humanized. Our hero is you and me, and any person you see out on the street. His appearance is identical in every chapter. Not because of artists' laziness, but because he's supposed to symbolize the mass and offer sense of resemblance and connection for the reader.

No one draws streets and cities like Tatsumi. There is a certain dichotomy at play between characters and environment. Whereas the first are drawn bleak, the latter radiates with details. The way it claustrophobically towers above characters and diminishes their individuality creates a certain dread. Idiosyncratic art style remains questionable for today's standards, but the universal way in which the subject is tackled eliminates any reason to call it anachronistic.

Gritty with little hope on the horizon; not a work that sticks to optimistic and vapid promises such as "it will be better". Consider it a perverse window into the lives of ordinary people depicted by an author who's well aware how asinine that sounds. Who knows, maybe you'll see your own reflection in the windowpane.
