Koe no Katachi review
This manga was worth the read. While there were some parts that were better off not happening, I still really loved Koe No Katachi.

It's use of regret, loneliness, redemption, and depression was really great. It honestly could be applied to anyone else's life and it sure did to mine. I could feel myself relating to some of these characters and it made me love them even more. Of course the characters weren't perfect. They all each had some kind of pain from their past that's dragging them down but that's a good thing. It makes them more realistic knowing that they aren't these perfect righteous people that you would normally see in a manga or anime.

The story was also really great. The setting in which the manga is placed in really fit well with what it was going to show. The story also didn't stray too far from what it was supposed to be and it just shows us what we would expect from the description that we've been given (from the synopsis or any description in websites). Obviously, there were also some flaws in this category. That being a lack of an explanation. To further explain, I mean that the story ends rather open-endedly leaving some readers mad and confused. It also made my brain yearning for an explanation. I think most of the reason for the anger towards the open-ended ending was because of the romance. There was a significant event where there was a slight bit of romance between the 2 main characters but it wasn't delved much after that. And that's what I think the readers are mad about. There's also a bit of some characters own resolve that wasn't explained either. But despite all that, the story that's centered in Koe No Katachi is still unique and something that shouldn't be regarded as "bad".

To say my final words, I think the author managed to create something good with Koe No Katachi. It may not deserve it's 8.80 rating (as of this review) but it still gave us something that we enjoyed. That I enjoyed. Thanks Yoshitoki Ooima for making this.

Koe no Katachi review
Koe no Katachi is simply the best manga I have ever read.
At first, I really didn't think I would like it. I bought the boxed set but kind of dismissed it earlier on because I'm not a very emotional guy.
Boy was I surprised.

Story & Character - The entire manga revolves around its characters so we can talk about Story and Characters at the same time. Every single little detail in this manga are impeccable. The plot itself is extremely believable and might happen to anyone, you never know.
The characters are endearing and likeable (well some of them, anyway). They might not all be relatable but they feel oh so real. They pretty much each cover a stance on bullying from different point of view, which I find original and interesting. It's not trying to be deep or anything and it's pretty obvious but it doesn't make it worse.
You can more or less understand every decision they make from an objective point of view and that's what makes this manga feel special in my eyes. The only exception to that I would make to this is Shoko but whatever.
Some of them are assholes and some of them are nice, just like real life.

Art - The art is genuinely 10/10 for what it is (a story/character driven-shonen) and the page turn (for those that read physically) is very well executed and sometimes struck me pretty hard (specially at a certain moment near the end, those of you who have read it know what I'm talking about).

Enjoyment - Sitting at 7 volumes and 64 chapters, I had a great time for what I consider a very short manga. Even if you don't think you'll enjoy it, like I did at first, I suggest you just give it a try. You never know, might just end up with a new favorite manga!

This is my first review so I'm very open to criticism, have a good day!

Made in Abyss review
My first thought as the story progressed was this:

"I didn't sign up for this."

Don't be fooled by it's light and youthful art and its very young characters. Don't.

I honestly thought when I picked up this manga it'll be like Pokemon, Digimon or something that shows a bunch of kids going on an adventure of a lifetime. You know, like a kid friendly show.

But I was wrong. So, so wrong.

This is anything BUT a kid friendly show. This manga is very, very dark with fantasy and psychological elements mixed in. It has strong gore too and, in my opinion, I'd go far and say that the characters, especially the main protagonists, are created just to suffer.

Heck, I'd say that Re:Zero, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica would look like cute, little kittens against this manga.

You have no idea how much the first 42 chapters broke my heart. I cried. I mentally screamed. I even almost threw my phone in frustration. Almost. I hate how such young children are forced to go through things that even adults can have a hard time dealing with. Like, are you freaking kidding me? They're just children! They're too young.

But even with my complaints, there's no denying the fact that it shows reality; which is really ironic since this is set in a fantasy world.

It's real that kids suffer even at such a young age.

And aside from that, I can't jump on the ship in this one. The couple in this manga is very obvious. It's already glaring at me.

I'm a shipper. I live for the shipping. But not this time. I just can't bear to ship two kids. I mean like, they're freaking kids. I don't care if they're 12 or 13, they still look like 8 year olds to me. And I find the idea of shipping them to be disturbing.

Now, I know what you're thinking. What about Sakura and Syaoran from Card Captor Sakura? They're kids too but many people ship them. So what's the matter with the ship in this one?

My dear friend, here's the problem. Sakura and Syaoran depicts the innocent side of puppy love. The one that gives you good memories. The one wherein if you recall your first love, it'll bring a smile on your face. It doesn't have too much drama and just light. It's positive.

On the other hand, the ship in this one is not. Yes, the two of them are perfect for each other. They handle what the other can't and together, they're really strong. But the fact that they look like they're 8 year olds and this manga has too much sexual innuendoes for me to truly appreciate it, I just can't.

I honestly found myself thinking "I wish they were teenagers or older" A LOT while reading this. I kept on seeing a lot of lolis since they're kids (not a fan of too many lolis) and reading about the sexual innuendoes on, let me remind you again, KIDS is really awkward for me.

I don't have anything against kids and sexual innuendoes. It's just not my cup of tea. So is the concept of making kids suffer a lot.

I'm sure at this point you're wondering, why did I give it a 9 if this review is just full of complaints?

That's because this is a masterpiece despite all of my rants beforehand.

The art is misleading but beautiful. The concepts, the plot, the characters -- everything is almost perfect. I love the idea of The Abyss and more. So much thought has been put into the story that after finishing a chapter, you're filled with a lot of questions.

And in hopes of answering those said thoughts, you can't help but immediately read the next one and ta-da! More questions. And before I knew it, I reached the latest chapter (as of the day this review was written) which was chapter 42. And I had more questions than before.

It's mysterious. It's captivating. You get dragged into this world whether you like it or not.

This is that kind of story.

So at the end of the day, despite my complaints and awkwardness, I'll still continue reading this and watch the anime. I'm emotionally and psychologically invested on the characters and I sure hope they'll have a really happy ending. They deserve it.

If you're a fan of dark fantasy and children suffering and sexual innuendoes (on KIDS) is fine with you, then go and pick this one up. You'll be in a really wild and psychologically scarring ride.

P.S.: And in case you're wondering if there's nudity involved, yes there is.

Story: 9/10
Art: 10/10
Character: 10/10
Enjoyment: 7/10
Overall: 9/10

Justice: Wyatt Earp Monogatari review

A quick, pretty average manga that is made more interesting by its rarely featured subject matter.

Story: 5. A traditional western story about the real life western Lawman Wyatt Earp, who is foundational to the American mythos of the "Wild West" of the late 19th century. The story is too short to really cover much ground, but its a decently entertaining story about exacting justice in a land where law and order has broken down. I get the hint the manga was meant to be longer (as it lays some foreshadowing that never gets followed up on) but its fine for what it is. I found aspects of the story a little ridiculous.

Art: 6. Not great, not terrible. I thought it was a poor artistic choice to depict all the main characters as handsome young men. Besides being historically inaccurate, the story and setting want to be gritty, but the main characters look like they just stepped out of Haikyuu. If youre going to tell a story about the WIld West, at least embrace a rugged, masculine art style, since theres alot of dissonance between the setting and the character design in this version.

Character: 5. Dissapointing. Kind of annoyed they were all very white-washed from the real life versions of Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson, both of whom were extremely interesting and flawed human beings, who have in this version have lost alot of their nuance.

Enjoyment: 6. Even though theres many flaws, its too short for them to really become unbearable, and its rare to see the Western genre in manga form (its this or Steel Ball Run) so it still managed to keep me entertained.

If you're looking for manga westerns, its basically this or Steel Ball Run. A

Giacomo Foscali review
An ancient roman statue handed down from generation to generation tied to the memories of an old man. Now living abroad, he can't manage to escape from his childhood and he can't forget about Andrea, a young man from the slums who left him to join the Italian resistance movement and most likely died in battle.

Giacomo Foscari comes from a middle-class family, which means he had an easy access to culture and lived a troubleless life, even during WWII which didn't affect his lifestyle much even though his family lost the majority of its wealth. The only thing he knows about poverty, he knows it because of Andreas, a kid who used to bully him but whose friendship will soon become his biggest treasure, until what was bound to happen happened…

Now living in Japan as an history teacher, Giacomo Foscari has chosen to cut all ties with his native country but his past will come facing him again when he meets with Shisuke Koga, a waiter who strongly reminds him of Andrea and with who he will try to get closer as the story develops.

What I particularly like about the presentation of this manga is the idea of objects as memento which makes Giacomo remember about parts of his life he uncounsciously locked away and it craftily switches between the present and the past to make the character deeper and interesting to follow. There's of course the statue of Mercurius I mentioned in the beginning which is the central object of this story, there's still some mysteries around it but it seems to embody Giacomo's vision of a perfect beauty and it's tied to both Andrea and Shusuke for whom he feels a sort of platonic attraction. There's also a story about a pen he gave to Andrea before he left to the War or the songs of Maria Callas which will inevitably also have an effect on him.

In the midst of all of this, Giacomo also learns about some of Japan's traditions such as going out to look at the cherry blossoms or observing the birds, it has a very strong Taniguchi-esque feeling, being both realistic and contemplative. It offers a great outlook on nature and on arts in general which are also a big component in the life of Giacomo Foscari.

The only thing keeping me from being fully satisfied is that it has been left on-hold since 2012 after the release of the first volume (apparently to wrap up Thermae Romae which was running at the same time) and there has been no news of an eventual continuation since then. The chances of it getting the conclusion it deserves after all these years is low and it definitely did have a lot more things to tell than what is shown in this first volume.

Chou Osuteki Darling review
Regardless of what the description says this manga is about a 17 year old girl taking a lover that is two years younger than her. Thats about it. The first half is about her worrying about being older than he and the other half is her worrying about being too perverted with him. This manga forcefully misses the chance of real depth that this set up could have provided. In the begining as the description says she is hopelessly in love with her brother in law. As you might of guess this is the first hurdle in her love affair with her koahi but unfortunatly for the reader the issue is just swept away with out much fuss or lingering feelings. The manga than worps past opening stages of thier relationship so once again the reader misses out on any intresting events that might of come up between a senior and a freshmen just starting a rommantic engagment. It than goes on to narrowly escape shoujo themes such as rivals and secret tabbo love. Namely a boy who was probably in love with the girl for quite sometime and the fact that she seems to be a little embarrassed to have such a relationship with some one two years younger and smaller in stature. The final epic dodge of intresting storyline was the fact that she will be going off to college soon and he will still have a couple years in high school. The manga just dosn't deal with it.In the end all the manga seems to be concerned with really is as i said before her insecurities at being with a younger guy and even so the issue is not so much dealt with as just sexed away(there is alot of sex people) and her worrying if she is to perverted but she gets over it( and by that i mean they agree to have sex like bunnies). Having said all that, by the time you finished reading this review you could have read two chapters of the manga and only have six left so why not read it. I like my stories with less sex and more sweetness but for only eight chapters long its not to much of a waste of your time. The art is pretty good and alot of funny mostly centering around one guy that just wont give up on doing the lead girl and how she handedly deals with such a pest. Eventhough the story as a whole is pretty simplistic and anti climactic each chapter is still pretty entertaining and the minor storylines are cute and/or clever. If you read it than you'll be etertained for a short while if you don't you won't miss out on much.

Time Paradox Ghost Writer review
Without really knowing much about Bakuman, which is of course the more popular series, I think it has some similarities setting-wise with Time Paradox Ghost Writer that it tells a story about how the manga industry works and how to become a mangaka in the first place. So in that it sets itself up from most of the other Shounen publications that it features no superpowers or actionopacked fights which is a nice variation from fighting mangas that could feel repetitive in the long run. Its interesting to see how metaphysical the series is in talking what makes a manga worth reading while being a good manga itself so the author maybe could self reflect in this moments and learn even more about himself how to make his series even better. The science-fiction element is quite unusual with the time travel depicted but creates mystery about the origin of this incident and could give some room for funny predictions of Shonen Jumps future that could partially come true.
The art is not much to write home about but sufficient enough and compensated by the orginal idea.
The both main characters are linked in an uncommon way to drive the story forward but thats what I like, so the development seems unpredictive. Sasaki, the guy, is written relatable with his past and especially inner recent conflicting struggles. The girl is rounding up the main protagonist to say the least. And the editors deciding which manga is going to be realeased are portraied in different facades, what I found good, so not all are the same grumpy logical thinkers.
Overall it is a good manga series about manga and is approved by me for publication(if I were a Jump editor of course) but that already happened before. So read it if you like to learn more about the manga business.
