Solo Leveling review
Solo leveling (season 1) is a pretty good power fantasy but the story falls flat for me in many aspects. These is well compensated enough by the great art and reasonably fast pacing to make up for this.

When I think of power fantasy anime/manga/manhwa the first thing that comes to mind is one punch man. A world where the protagonist hopelessly outclasses everyone else but still has a solid, unique character to him along with a world brimming with interesting characters who all have their own struggles and goals. Now comparing that to solo leveling. Well 'solo' leveling is really what you get because while this story has a slew of interesting looking side characters, almost none of them get the screen time to be given any character after the first 30 ish chapters.

So then what about the main character? Jin-woo is probably the most bland character you could ever write. He reacts like a piece of card board to everything. It really is a shame cause when you first are introduced to him, you get a sense of relatability and hope for this underdog family man, who even though he is 'the world's weakest hunter' still goes out every day to try to provide for his school age sister and comatose mother. But as soon as he gets power, all of that goes away. At times it becomes hard to even remember that his original goal was to help his mother and sister as they are thrown to the side as if they don't exist for some 80 chapters while MC just goes off and beats up monster after monster, with little to any thoughts in his head about well anything aside from killing more monster. This is especially exemplified when at one point somewhat early on, Jin-woo's sister asks to join him on a jog as she notices he's been working out. So what does Jin-woo do? Totally abandons his sister and sprints as fast as he can with no care for where she is or care for connecting with her as she is trying to do with him right now. Scenes like these are so frustrating because as a reader I WANT to feel a connection with these side characters, but all Jin-woo cares about is getting more power at the expense of any connection to those around him.

At the end of the day this is a really fun read but it woefully lacks the charming characters of something like one punch man or even Reincarnated as a Slime, that really makes the story feel whole. It especially is sad because there are some fun characters in here that I yearned to know more about, but just as quickly as they show up so quickly are they gone. Reading this story, you might as well be playing a RPG with a silent protagonist where all the characters you meet get as little emotional development as your character does.

Sono Saki no Fuukei review
"Someone's loneliness is spreading all through the sky, and I couldn't move an inch."

Sono Saki no Fuukei is a tragedy, following the live's of three people, a brother, his girlfriend, and his younger sister, we see them navigate through their delicate relationships with one another as murky feelings slowly rise to the surface.

Tragedy is the name of the game, and it's one Fujiwara Kaoru's(the author) specialty. We bear witness to the sorrow felt by the younger sister, a girl who's relationship with her brother has been distant for some time now and who suffers from heart complications that stop her from taking part in any physical activities. We follow in curiosity, the girlfriend of the brother, who was drawn to him and yet is unable to satisfy him as long as she remains awake, each time after waking up wondering what exactly happened. And finally we ponder what is going on through the brother's head as he deals with his own inner demons throughout the story.

These three characters are all touched upon lightly, with dialogue being sparse and the chapter count matching the dialogue you wonder what might be achievable in only four chapters. Symbolism, it's prevalent in Fujiwara's works, while the dialogue is used to state only what can't be shown, the rest of the story is told through the eyes of each character, dialogue withheld, and with the inclusion of panels that often times will focus in on one item, or specific part of the person, understanding what is trying to be said, even without a word, is painless.

The art itself feels ephemeral, with characters and environments drawn with a faintness to them that is more akin to the feeling of a dream, then an actual physical world that our characters live in, and this dream-like feeling is used specifically in a few scenes where our character doesn't know whether they're actually experiencing something or not. It's small things like that, which might go under the radar in your first read, and lend itself to the re-readability of the work, thanks also to the length. And with those additional read-throughs, its easy to pickup on other small instances that help flesh out more about their lives, and what's going through their heads.

In regards to the various themes explored, they seep into the main aspects of the work, with the artistic style seen and the way the characters interact with one another, it ends up extending beyond being one characteristic among many, but the encompassing reason for everything in this story. Overall Sono Saki no Fuukei, is a mystical story that is worth the quick read.

Diabolik Lovers Anthology review
Well, this improved greatly from the anime. If you watched the anime (like me) and got here, then stick around, because this might still be more to your liking.

I didn't like the anime. I will never rewatch it because it was honestly a waste of time and I just wanted to get through it. I didn't like the nonconsensual stuff going on, I didn't like how none of the characters had any character other than being sadists, the main character was a blank slate and never resisted anything, and as a girl, I kind of found it demeaning to watch when she was being treated that was but being at piece with it.

However, while the manga isn't good by any means, I can definitely say it was a step up. To begin with, I would like to put out there that there honestly isn't any story line. It's more of a collection of one-shots depending on who your favorite character is. Kind of like fanfiction, if you've every read any.

The art is alright. There were a few chapters (especially one of the Ryeji ones) that were so badly drawn that it was hilarious. I'm not sure if it was a different author, or if it was done at a different time... I don't know, but it was such sad art that I couldn't stop laughing. There was also a lot of disproportional bodies in some parts of the manga, though in other parts, the art was almost beautiful. The low score is more for the inconsistency, really.

The characters. Boy, oh boy. Like I said, these were basically one-shots, so there wasn't a lot of development. That being said, Yui was much more tolerable here and I didn't feel like I was betraying womankind by reading this. While Yui still outwardly says no (so technically not consent) she admits to secretly liking the treatment and being a masochist. This makes the rest of the plot much more tolerable and understandable. The guys, while they still act without Yui's consent, give off more of a BDSM-style aura instead of a rapist aura. I prefer this a lot to the anime. While some of the boys (I still hate Kanato) are pretty much the same as the anime, here, some of them are given some character, more feelings, etc. A lot better.

I didn't enjoy it enough to give it a super high score, and there were a few chapters that were terribly drawn or just made me super uncomfortable, but there were parts of the manga that I wouldn't mind reading again. They weren't too bad. The score dropped mostly because of the characters. None of them were nice to Yui, even if they were considerably better than the anime versions of themselves. On top of that, while Yui secretly enjoys everything, she never actually gives her consent (save for a few times), but the guys think it's okay to go ahead anyways.

I might just be being picky, I don't know, but I don't really feel like this deserves more than a 4.

I would recommend this if: you're into anything BDSMy, you like ditzy heroines, you like rough dudes, you like one-shots, you don't need a large overarching plot

I would NOT recommend if: you're relatively vanilla, you like character and development, you wanted plot, you want a long series with overarching themes

Have a great day everyone!

No one would realise how effing hard it is to try and find a decent shoujo-ai story?!?!?!

In all seriousness though, I am sick to death with shoujo-ai and Yuri manga being known as girls looking too cute rather than look realistic or interesting as most Yaoi and Shounen-ai manga are. Although I will let this go for "We cant Draw Love" because, in all fairness, it was totally cute.

I have gotten "Citrus" vibes off this but it's not the sameish, since the girls in this are a mangaka couple than a stepsister couple. Anyways we shall talk abit about it, it basically starts off with Kano the "out there" type of girl and Miyuu as the shy Poe faced type of girl who works on a manga together. The pair of them are just so cute together like it is heart-melting they are so serious about each other and of course, having the same goal to get their manga issued every week (I think that's the normal length). People think the story was rushed which I do agree because unfortunately, it seems lesbian manga ending is rushed but yeah it was nice enough in a sense.

I did like the side characters like Sui-Kyun is basically bae, not gonna lie...lol. Honestly, I love side characters like that who aren't there to just break up the couple and act the maggot, Sui was just that kind of woman who we all need in our lives for support <3

Anyways take a read at this shoujo-ai manga, it is nice and cute. Although don't expects explicit scenes. If you feel like this manga isn't your type of story, then just read other mangas that do...

Story : 3
- Mediocre at best. The "dramas" feels extremely forced, and used mainly to advance the plot, which is super cliche and stupid at this point so far. It is your typical average teenage boy getting transferred into another fantasy world. Well while it is true that this isn't a harem series in which the character is overly OP and just an overall trash harem/waifubait of a mess, the premise of this manga isn't unique or refreshing, and have been done better before (Tate no Yuusha Nariagari). While I do have a soft spot for series that take a darker approach on these kind of premises, this manga is a complete mess of a writing. It just showed how immature and incompetent the writer is. I would have given it a 3 or 4, but since it is fairly new, I will give it another chance
Characters: 2
- Oh god where do I even begin... The MC is a typical teenage boy who wishes to have a peaceful life and that's his only damn defining trait( Yeah because we totally never got this type of character before). I'm not against his personality or something but it's extremely dreadful to the point of being dreadful. What's worse is that he is extremely naive, and is an absolute imbecile. I found myself getting angry and frustrated at him instead of the villains. He is the type of guy that would make you want to yell "Use your f***king head for god's sake".
- The Villains have no defining traits except being scummy. Completely and dreadfully shallow and one-dimensional. They have no purposes or motivations, and are there to just move the plot along. I would even call it insulting to my intelligence.
- As for the so-called "God", maybe it's just me but his character designs really piss me off for some reason. Oh , did I mention that the character designs are completely cliche and stereotypical too ? The character designs are completely cliche and stereotypical. Enough of that. God literally just appears out of no-where , uncalled for , and just start dumping expositions after teleporting(?) the characters to somewhere(?). They never really explain what is going on or maybe I just didn't pay enough attention because I was so bored muscling through this garbage. The part where that guy started charging in at God and got killed was just so freaking comically horrible that it was ironically funny. Not that I'm laughing at the funniness of that scene, I'm just laughing at how much of an incompetent hack the writer is. After that guy was slaughtered, everyone was kind of freaked out , in a very awkward and bizarre way. Just made the whole scene seemed like a comic relief instead of a serious moment that should have define and establish the tone of the series.
Art: 3
- Some may call it "stylizing" or "unique" but to me, the art is just complete trash. No details whatsoever, the character designs are cliche and stereotypical, and many more. I could talk more but it's just trash.
Enjoyment: 2
- A complete mess that I dreadfully pulled myself through, even though I only read 2 chapters, the manga is so bad that I just couldnt bear it. I was just thinking and hoping that the series would get progressively better, and It was the only motivation that kept me going through this pile of garbage. The pacing is a clusterfuck too.
Overall :
- So far, it's trash , and it seems like it will stay that way. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this sack of trash whatsoever. Unless you want your intelligence to be insulted through generic and shallow characters, stupid and cliche plots, and abysmal artstyle.

I don't know why this has a near 7 star rating what.

Do NOT read this manga. I'm pretty sure it was axed, and never gave a proper ending. There's no point in reading it.

Basically, this manga is nothing but good ideas that went to waste used on a poorly written manga that got axed probably not even halfway through. It really did have so many good ideas. If they were more well thought out, this could have been a much better manga.

I think the biggest waste in the series was the Hierarchy idea. Sadly, it was poorly done and thrown out the window by the "end" of the manga. The author could have taken this into two directions. One, they could have made the manga focused on the 7 characters. Forget the other Kingdom's and expanding. Forget the Godlike woman who gave them it. They could have written a character driven drama based purely off of the King idea alone, not changing anything about it, and it'd have had much more potential to be good.

On the flip side, they could have changed the King mechanic where the roles do not change unless something like the peasants rebelling happens. Except, instead of killing the current King, they're thrown to Peasant status, and a new King has to be decided upon. To prevent this from being abused, it could be limited to a certain number of times, or only be done after a set amount of time passes.

Just those changes alone opens up so many more possibilities. Imagine the King leading their subjects to war with other Kingdom's, taken their subjects and expanding their territory as well. That'd open up so many more possibilities as the main Kingdom we follow expands.

The entire manga is full of good ideas like that, and they end up poorly executed, or thrown out the window.

I think the worst part of this was the ending. I'm pretty sure the manga got axed, and the author was forced to wrap it up. That's usually the case for abrupt endings like this. Out of no where, in the middle of the biggest arc yet, the main character is sent to the real world, 6 years pass, and one of the girls come back to the real world and tells him she won. That's it. We don't get to see it, told how it happened, why it happened, and what the result of it was. Nothing but questions without any answers.
