Akira review
(just for the record, this is a slight alteration of my anime review)

VALUE SECTION: 10/10
Analysis: Historical Value 3/3, Rereadability 3/3, Memorability 4/4

Amongst the most classic manga titles of all times, Akira has passed in history as one of the best dystopian/apocalyptic titles of all times, not only because of its detailed artwork but also because of its themes, angst-ridden characters, and grotesque action/transformation scenes.

ART SECTION: 8/10
Analysis: General Artwork 2/2, Character Figures 1/2, Backgrounds 2/2, Readability 2/2, Visual Effects 1/2

I must say I am amazed. The artwork is extremely detailed and dynamic, to the point it counts as a graphic novel and not as a run of the mil comic book. The world is depicted in its most cold industrial form, buildings and machinery are highly detailed, there are various angles from which we see the action, and the violence is bloody and nightmarish. Although the average viewer may find the character figures to look too generic or even hermaphrodite, this does not take away the excitement from the numerous amazing action sequences throughout the story. Also, despite the rather blunt visual effects because of technology restrictions (or the maker’s personal choice) the gravity of each explosion and death retains its shocking aspect to the fullest.

CHARACTER SECTION: 9/10
Analysis: Presence 2/2, Personality 1/2, Backdrop 2/2, Development 2/2, Catharsis 2/2

Two prevailing characters, Tetsuo and Kaneda, orphans that grew up together in a world gone crazy. Although having the same background, Kaneda feels only like an edgy, teenage delinquent. He is the leader type that makes others like him and follow him and kicks ass when somebody questions his ego.

But Tetsuo, wow, the guy is one, big, crazy, son of a … His weak presence early in the film is quickly replaced by an insane megalomaniac, out to get even with the world that was hurting him all his life. He hardly knows whom to blame first; his researchers, his best friend or even his own self. And makes A LOT of damage because of it. Down inside, he is just a normal kid that never got the affection it needed to feel secure and now everyone will pay the price! A cult figure, for a good reason.

I prefer this kind of problematic characters to those lame heavy-dudes of today. Most recent stories with teenagers with issues don’t go further than shoveling us a silent-type guy whose woman was kidnapped or village was destroyed and now got ultra powerful and fights evil. Bleah!

Although they are the main two characters there are over 60 more secondary who affect the plot through various other means. The stuck-up military guy that wants to protect the status quo, the curious scientist that challenges the powers of the unknown just to see what they can do, the rebel zealots, the scheming politician, the psychic kids, all of them contribute and criticize the various facets of modern civilization in their own way.

The duration of the story is also not too short or not too long and thus you can see them change along the way smoothly. By the end of it, you actually understand them and like them for what they are. It is true that most of them are rather too simple in personality and seem to think rather 2-dimensionaly yet this doesn’t make them feel dried up at all since they develop along the way in an interesting way.

STORY SECTION: 9/10
Analysis: General Scenario 2/2, Pacing 2/2, Side Stories/Extra Spices 2/2, Plausibility 2/2, Conclusion 1/2

The theme is the rotten society and the psychological damage it does that causes its own youth to rebel and bring upon its own downfall. Yes, it’s a typical theme nowadays and there are a hundred series with a similar premise.

Amoral scientists experiment on little children, in order to harness their psychic powers. Searching in the dark for something they have no idea about, a kid named Akira goes amok, destroys Tokyo and brings about worldwide chaos. The politicians hide their shameful mistake from the public and scientists repeat the same experiment years later on a kid named Tetsuo… and get screwed again.

The story is simple in its premise and despite the mostly straightforward plot, its numerous characters flavor it through several side stories. The duration is as I said enough to let the story unfold smoothly and the conclusion, although rather corny, is satisfactory and solid. But it’s more of a story about the psyche of teenagers, not cool graphics or in-depth scenario.

ENJOYMENT SECTION: 9/10
Highly entertaining despite the rather basic premise for today’s standards. The pacing is rather slow but never wastes pages and the characters develop along the way, while the action and the mayhem are superbly depicted for their time.

VERDICT: 9/10
Well, it didn’t take much consideration. The accused is found … NOT GUILTY! … All charges were just slander and are dropped. The accused is free to go. We hope for more of you to be out there.

A Cat That Loved a Fish review
The story is about love. A brother and a sister, who loves each other as a man and a woman, but can't be together because they're siblings. However, they aren't blood-relate because the girl's mom remarried the guy's dad.

The art is great, but I felt that the mangaka could've used the space a little better: it felt like e.g. backgrounds were left out sometimes. While I understand that it's a common thing, I still felt that something was missing... Sometimes the girl's hair was black or white, and I almost thought she wasn't the same person at first.

The characters are a bit hard to understand, since it's a oneshot. I felt like I couldn't fully comprehend them, even though I understood bits, like how they liked to tease each other. Still, you get the main thing - that they're in love but hindered by their parents marriage. The feelings of sadness and their wish to be free, and be together is conveyed very, very well.

The enjoyment was very good. It's just 24 pages so it was a lot of story pushed into there, though you didn't feel that it was too rushed. I've read the other reviews, and I don't really understand why they couldn't understand the story. I mean, if you read the summary you'll be fine.

Overall it's a nice oneshot with the art as it's main strength. The symbolic meanings of the title was very clever of the mangaka, because it's basically the summary of the story; a cat that loved a fish. Cats eat fish, right? Therefore, they can't be together. I think you should read this manga even if you don't have the time to, 'cause it's so short. I read it in 3-5 minutes and felt it really was worth it.

Story: 8/7 - Art: 8 - Character: 7 - Overall: 5
- MINOR? SPOILERS AHEAD.. NVM MAJOR SPOILERS OOPS

Ok so, if this was marketed as a hentai, overall this manga would get an 8 for being a damn good hentai. BUT NO, not a hentai which is, sad ngl so it’s a 5, but let me list some things down before we begin:
Shit in the story:
- Rape, Incest, Drugs, Mind control, more rape, lot’s of sex, cannibalism, murder, lolicon, shotacon, abuse, arson?. yeah. Shit you’d find in a usual hentai except arson.

Note that the artist is a professional hentai artist so yeah. Very detailed lol.
Before I start: It’s not gorey at all. It’s just graphic in a sex term, like rape abuse drug shit.

Story: 8/7
If you read this manga fully knowing what you’re getting into, it’s actually pretty good. The pacing is good and it’s coherent. The manga emphasizes on REVENGE FANTASY. MC literally drags his other party members to do revenge and rapes literally almost every one of his main female enemies. Even genderbent a dude just so that he’d get gangraped by people, while MC lit them all on fire. This is ‘great stuff’ as a hentai. The world is actually quite interesting, it doesn’t have the stupid guild and quest shit, and actually dives deep into the lore which is really surprising LOL. Full blast on warning though, if you treat this manga as a hentai, this shit is magical. BUT, once you treat it like an official shounen? manga, it’s fucking BAD. None of the characters are good people except for Setsuna, Blade, Iblis, and other side characters. MC, Freya, Norn, etc are fucking evil. It’s kind of refreshing to see straight up evil shits doing actually evil shit while putting on a facade of being good, but it get’s a bit repetitive as the story goes on when MC just beats the bad guys. Don’t get me wrong, a healer being OP is just straight up fantasy BUT very interesting. A lot of the powers is actually fresh and new in my opinion, and honestly, if there wasn’t any rape or revenge plot, I still think the story would be good or even better. But alas, we have an evil MC which is fresh to see. This story would be a 10/9 if it was a typical shounen story BUT the MC was evil and didn’t include a lot of rape.
Shit that personally turns me off: rape, incest, and practically any other hentai tag lol. Don’t get me wrong, mind control is cool when you turn a good person into an evil person because of angst reason, but everything in this story is just typical hentai fantasy play except for abuse which the MC mostly experienced.

Art: 8
Not a big fan of the art style but it’s okay and cute.

Character: 7
Everyone is just evil except for the ones I mentioned earlier. Recent chapters near 30’s show MC growing soft for his past enemies turned toys/sexslaves. The party bonding is cute which is kinda sad because Freya literally abused MC. Shit gets even worse when you realize he started getting abused and raped at 14, yikes man. Characters are still interesting though since we don’t get much literal evil characters. Some raped were ‘justified’ but not with Norn because she didn’t even rape/abuse MC also because she’s mad young. It’s cute seeing Freya and Norn interact with each other when they lost their memories and act like sisters again, but it’s depressing knowing both of them hated/feared each other and super fucking crazy @.@

Overall: 5
I give it a 5 because 1) It doesn’t market itself as a hentai 2) It’s REVENGE FANTASY(I’m a pacifist in real life and dislike revenge. I hate confrontation and prefer to appease people and stay in good terms) 3) It’s still rather interesting and a refreshing read. I like how fucked up it is but I get mad concerned when there are real people who actually sympathize and SUPPORT MC’s rapes and shit 🙃 . Anyways, it missed its potential as being one of the best hentais ever, so that’s a shame.

DearS review
I hereby entitle this manga: "Mixed Feelings Galore!"

*Spoilers ahead*

Story-
"Love will save the universe!" Is by far one of the stupidest lines to come out of this manga, and certainly isn't the last. The story starts off pretty simple, with ridiculously slow pacing. The Dears have come to Earth because their ship crashed, and they're immediately welcomed through numerous exchange programs without any hesitation. We follow Ren, a "defect" Dears, through her misadventures with the "master" she chose, that being Takeya. For the first 6 volumes, there isn't too much conflict or an overarching threat that needs to be stopped. It's mainly "What is...love?" and "Whoops! Did I just touch a boob?"-which gets old pretty quick. More characters get introduced throughout the series (Which I'll get to later) that add a little bit of action and interest, but some of them get annoying very quickly. However, basically everything happens in the last 7 or so chapters. By everything I mean rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. At first I found myself trying to rush through the chapters to get it over with, because while I thought Miu and Takeya had much better chemistry, and you know, genuine affection between them, in the end it was obvious that Ren and Takeya would be together. All of a sudden, I was rereading things because everything was moving so quick. What happened to Takeya's parents? What's the deal with his dad? What's with this space-war-thing? Well, none of these questions were answered, which is downright annoying. All of this time was spent doing literally nothing, then an entire half of a story was crammed into a couple chapters. I have never once read something with such horrible pacing. I'm feeling generous so I'll give it a 5/10.

Art-
Classic Peach-pit. Big eyes, big boobs, and the sharpest chins around. All jokes aside, there are some pages that were absolutely gorgeous. For the most part, the backgrounds are well developed, which is appreciated. I can remember the locations and character designs with ease, and I love the individuality of the Dears' costumes. I loved the over the top emotions, and the chibi panels were cute. I agree with many others when I say that the art is probably the most enjoyable part of this series. I liked it a lot, so 8/10.

Character-
I hated Takeya. With a seething, burning, inferno-like passion. He treated everyone like crap, even when they were trying to be nice to him. He was more tolerable in the last two volumes, but other than that he was a total jerk to Ren. Granted, I would probably get annoyed at her too, but he has no concern for her feelings or anyone else's. And this isn't some sort of tsundere thing, where the character actually loves someone and is hiding it by portraying themselves to be "tough". He's just an ass. I couldn't stand him and actually wanted him to be put in his place, and I think Nekoneko did something kind of like that in the last volume. Not on the scale I would have hoped for, though. As for Ren, I thought she was really sweet and honestly wanted the best for her. However, some of her dynamics bothered me after a while because they brought up the same things over and over. She likes melon bread. She is devoted to the idea that Takeya is her master. She doesn't really know what clothes are. All of these things were brought up so much that I got sick of them. I liked Miu and Nekoneko, though, as I thought they were the most likable and I can actually sympathize with them. There are many more characters but this section is long enough already. 6/10 because I genuinely like some of the characters but hate other ones.

Enjoyment-
5/10. I hoped and hoped that this manga would get better, that some sort of interesting thing would happen. Well, I guess it did in a way, but that isn't my point. My point is that there were a lot of things I enjoyed, such as the art, general concept, and a few of the characters, but there are so many things that I hated that I really can't see myself going back to this series anytime soon. I read it on a whim, and I'm kind of glad it's over. I didn't really hate it, but it wasn't that good either.

Overall, I'm feeling generous, so I'll give it a 6/10. I'll give it some points for an interesting concept and having unique characters, I loved the art, and there were some moments that made me laugh out loud. I think Peach-pit made some better series than this, so only read this if you're REALLY curious or like Peach-pit in general. If not, skip it.

Tl;dr: Boring story (until the end when things get rushed), good art, and characters that range from likable to intolerable. Read it if you like Peach-pit or the premise, skip if it not.

Fujiwara-kun wa Daitai Tadashii review
Fujiwara-kun wa Daitai Tadashii

Fujiwara-kun wa Daitai Tadashii review
Fujiwara kun wa Daitai Tadashii is an extremely standard shoujo manga. There are tons of shoujo manga out there much like this one. Set in high school and entirely focused on the love life of some girl named Hitsuji who's supposed to be undesirable to boys, but in a relatable way, and then for some reason two particularly hot and popular boys become interested in her, and of course there's a love triangle. The characters are at least a bit unique and fleshed out, but it's nothing comparable to the really great shoujo manga I've read, meanwhile the situations and plot are pretty much entirely standard. Also as is common, the manga is so razor focused on the romance that everything else feels a bit thin as a result. The writing is at best just serviceable, and the art is sometimes nice, other times you might notice a weird looking hand or foot or some such. Again, all these points are pretty dime a dozen for the majority of shoujo.

I also want to discuss the title, "Fujiwara kun wa Daitai Tadashii," or "Fujiwara kun is Usually Right." Since I haven't read to the end, I can't tell whether the title is supposed to mean that Fujiwara really is usually right or if it's supposed to be ironic, that Hitsuji initially thinks he's so right, then later realizes actually he screws things up like everyone else. If the intent is the former, then it's some pretty poor writing on the author's part because boy is Fujiwara wrong on so many things, though I get the sense the audience is more supposed to think he is generally right. If it's supposed to be the latter, I don't have much confidence that the author is going to be effective at making that point, as there hasn't really been any foreshadowing to that idea nearly 30 chapters in. But who knows? I may be surprised.

Which sort of brings me to another thing I've noticed as an extremely common problem in this type of shoujo, which is it starts off with a particular premise, in this case, Fujiwara telling Hitsuji some harsh truths which she eventually comes to realize (at least in her mind) are right, and then that premise quickly is forgotten as the manga relies more and more on standard tropes and becomes more and more generic as a result. Along these lines, at some point, Fujiwara stops giving her advice, and the manga becomes mostly concerned with this love triangle which frankly seems out of character for Fujiwara who up until that point seemed too sensible, with his thing of giving "hard truth" advice. At that point I felt like the author was losing their handle on his characterization entirely, to be honest, as he kind of does a one-eighty from outright refusing to be in any relationship to so aggressively pursuing Hitsuji he's being rather unethical. But, so it goes with shoujo, since it's meant to be sugar for people with that kind of sweet tooth.

In summary: typical shoujo, with the typical flaws, and the typical reasons to read. If you really love shoujo it's decent. People more familiar with the genre but only interested in particularly good shoujo probably won't care to read.
