Pumpkin Night review

Started off as your typical slasher manga. Very akin to older horror/ slasher films like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream where all our characters get picked off one by one in gruesome ways.

Plot was basic and our main "antagonist" Pumpkin Night had kind of an interesting backstory. All the characters are idiots, especially our main male protagonist, but I could overlook it. It's the same formula over and over so none of it really mattered or stood out in anyway. What mattered was the art and the gore and that was 10/10.

However it all took a down hill turn when Trump showed up.

Enjoyment just about plummeted and the story line shifted. It used to be a thriller but now it's just turned into a joke. The translators think its funny to throw memes and racial slurs in like its 2011 or something. And I can't take it seriously in the slightest.

I'd recommend this manga if you just want a gore fest, but honestly it really isn't even that anymore. The great art gets completely overwhelmed by the sheer stupidity of the dialogue, the plot, and the characters. Now I'm really just struggling to finish it. I've come this far already, I can't quit now. But I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's growing cold.
