Mod Note: This review was initially posted for the one-shot, 2001-byou Time Trap!, and was subsequently merged into Bakumatsu Roman Ibun.

2001 Seconds Time Trap was a very cute story. The art style is very cute and the story is very short so everything wraps up in less than 20 pages. Unless you really hate generic or cutesy stories, you'll enjoy it.

The story as a whole has a whole cheery tone and gives off an optimistic vibe. The characters are your typical shy girl/outgoing boy and the story is very obvious from the get go but this isn't a bad things since the story is short. The nice thing is that you don't have to read pages upon pages when you already know how its going to end, but it leaves you wanting more throughout the story and at the end (what one-shot doesn't give that feeling?). One thing though, is that the story feels a little rushed once the plot device activates. The story resolves in 5 pages so the big "reveal" happens with little build-up.

The art style is probably my favorite part of the story and helps to give it a cute atmosphere. Although the story is predictable, the cute art keeps you in good spirits, hoping for the best.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and I recommend it to anyone who loves short stories, one-shots or romance.

Overall Score: 7(.5 but you can't give halves)
