Although I haven't read to the latest chapter, I feel I have enough info to write a review. The story and characters was actually pretty fleshed out, but after the first big arc (or second) ended (Origin of Obedience), I felt that the entire backstory for the supporting main characters was not needed (I actually skipped most of it). I do know that if I read the backstory arc, I would sympathize with the characters more, but it just irked me how even before Origin of Obedience and even more so after, the main character was not a main part of the story. The creator of this manga seems like someone who puts an importance on the small aspects of a picture, and not the big picture. It would have been nice to see more about Yuji and how he goes about his day with Sakuna, or if we could have seen Yuji just go all out in a battle once. I hope later on in the story, one of the two sides gives Yuji and Sakuna all of the fingers so that we can see how powerful Sakuna really is.
