Youkai Banchou review

This manga takes you to a world that is fairly vague and that's important in this story. There is very little dialog and practically no exposition, so you have to figure out everything by yourself. That however is exactly the part that I like so much about this manga. All the characters are socially awkward but not at all like the tropes that you see a lot. The kids behave like kids and are not especially heroic (if I think I might die I will run away) and listen to the authority of elders. Those in their place think things through before acting, usually.
The art is very different to other manga, but that doesn't necessarily make it good. I can bear it but I won't be praising it. What makes this manga good is the lack of exposition in the story and the unexpected characters. It's a shame that it got cancelled and that it doesn't have a real ending.
