Shingeki no Kyojin review

Alright, I just finished my marathon reading the last chapter up to date.

I don't think there is a more difficult manga for me to review except AOT since there is so few mangas like it. I've never experienced anything like it.

When I first started hearing about all the hype behind the manga I just had to start getting involved and know more about it but I just couldn't quite enjoy nor feel this involvement that everybody was so hyped about while reading the first chapters. You know nothing about the characters yet disaster is coming upon these people you're supposed to care about and you're put into this universe so mysterious and intriguing while not really sure if you're interested in knowing more about it since it can be a lot of informations to digest. The anime definetly helped me with its great pace and intense rhythm to always keep my heart running and on track with everything occurring.

The universe of Attack On Titan isn't beautiful, neither is the art really. Nothing in the manga really is. Except in its ability to show the complexity and depths of humanity. This manga is not trying to sell us a great trip on a fantasy world full of dreams and hopes. It exposes to us the works and minds of humanity in the most realistic way. It's the most realistic manga I've ever read, every decision being made in it doesn't feel stupid or unnecessary cause it would truly would have been done in the world we live in. The way the morals and social behaviors are portrayed are simply breathtakingly realistic. There are displayed in a way where you almost feel like there are no heros, no good or bad guys but just mere people trying to fight for what they think is right. There are depicted some important realities humans live by not knowing if what you fight for is right but merely because you were taught so by your national education. There are many moral and emotional subjects that AOT adresses but this one is the biggest so far.

But this obviously isn't the reason why we were all sucked into this story.

The atmosphere is where it's at. Although I didn't feel it at first this is where all the intensity comes from. This very mysterious universe waiting to be discovered, the perpetual danger constantly threatening us. There is never a time to sleep or rest in this world and so very few moments aren't intense and crucial. As the manga goes on the intensity only grows although there can be time for flashbacks and moments where the story needs to be unfolded but it only makes the drama more and more intense and unexpected.

Story 10/10
This manga does a perfect job to tell a story. It really feels like Isayam as worked on this story to the end, every plot details conjunct perfectly from the beginning to the latest chapters. Every single thing make so much sense that it's scary while having so much twists and turns with almost every single chapters I tip my bonnet to you Isayama-san.

Art 7/10
Welp I think point it's clear with this rating. Not great but not bad either. Great backgrounds and landscapes. I feel like the faces are weird a little too often. The fights are great but could be better I think, especially human fights but titans are perfect. I appreciate the fact that it's not pretty cause it doesn't try to so I could give it one more point for that.

Character 9/10
Could've given it a 10, I just think there could have been more charismatic characters. Now it's the issue cause the main point is to not show charisma to not give away unrealistic feelings that we can't compare to, so the point is to picture normal people that kinda look like us. But still I wish there was more badass looking characters kinda like Levi or Erwin so 9.

Enjoyment 11/10
I don't think I've been this involved and excited about a manga ever. I think every manga gives you different types of feelings so I can't compare but still, the intensity in it is so overwhelming I don't think anything could compare. Actually anything.

Overall 10/10

I already said my piece in the beginning. Where some manga (considered masterpieces) are great and there stray from there core and story AOT manages to be always focused on it as it's ground which makes is so great. While still be able to be in awe and expetancy, it's a remarkable work only to accomplish that. Redondance, boredness and lack is something this manga doesn't know.
Perfect.
Masterpiece.

(changed character from 9 to 10 considering the variety of morals implemented that is a masterpiece work of its own. It requires so much objectivity it's almost non-human I just can't give it a 9)
