Summary
Shunned by his brother Ginga, Neo-Tokyo troublemaker Daichi finds solace in collecting rare "Mystickers"—miraculous stickers capable of generating unlimited energy. Only after a deadly encounter does Daichi learn the truth behind his brother’s cold and distant attitude: Ginga was sheltering him from Qilin Realm, a malicious organization that seeks Daichi to bring a disturbing plan into action. Ginga sacrifices himself to protect his brother and is kidnapped by the organization, leaving Daichi lost and helpless.
Fortunately, the Guardians—Ginga's allies in opposing Qilin Realm—come to his aid. Now recruited into their ranks, Daichi finds himself thrust into their violent world. Soon, he realizes that he can harness the Mystickers' powers into his own body, for he is one of a select few known as "Blazers." Spurred on by his brother’s selflessness and the discovery of his abilities, Daichi sets out with the Guardians to rescue his brother and prevent Qilin Realm from realizing their goal.
Included one-shot:
Volume 1: Trival (pilot)

Blazer Drive review
Blazer Drive is a great manga sure it has some similarities to naruto but it is its own manga many mangakas they sometimes reuse the storyline or characters from their previous manga and have a different twist to it for example in Zombie powder the main character Gumma was remade in Bleach as Grimmjow. Blazer Drive is also a game on the Nintendo Ds and the game Rocks.

Blazer Drive review
This is a very interesting manga, that is well worth the read a couple of hours should do it maybe 2 days of sporadic reading. It takes place in the future where mysticker(stickers) replace fuel and other pollution/harmful things like deforestation(fire mysticker), electrical dams(electric mystickers) etc. I love the 5 ultimate mystickers which are like the five best of certain types(Ice, Fire, Light, Shadow, Electricity), there are also some good guy/rivalry fights.
But after one of the main bad guys is "injured" it seems a bit rushed and i was left wondering how is this going to be finish with under 10 chapters left. The final fights and reveals are really good, but again this story leaves too many threads left hanging and only a few conclusions. Story is good and the score reflects that, art looks a bit dated but still really good, characters are shounen standards. Overall worth 2-3 reads but not something that is compelling to read too many times. |
Blazer Drive review
Blazer Drive is the definition of mediocre.
There is absolutely nothing in this manga that stands out in any way at all. Everything from the story, to the setting and to the dreadful characters gives of a distinct impression of "meh". It's all been done before, we have the stupid, talentless loser hero, who in fact has the greatest latent potential of all, we have the cute girl who befriends the hero comes along on his trip, we have the "cool" big brother character, the perverted sensei as well as the eternal rival who of course, eventually will switch sides and become an ally. The author, Seishi Kishimoto (Brother of the famed Masashi "Naruto" Kishimoto), previously wrote 666 Satan (O-Parts Hunter in the US), although anybody who has read it will get the distinct feel that Seishi got tired of it during it's run, and rushed to complete it so he could move on to his next project, Blazer Drive, wich is pretty much a dumb, soulless and above all; unnecessary copy of Naruto wich doesn't bring anything new to the table. What's even worse is, that if you've read 666 Satan, you will be annoyed over how talentless Seishi is at charcter design, he frequently re-uses characters and personalities from his previous work in his new story. Not only that, but Blazer Drive gives off the exact same vibe as 666 Satan of being extremly rushed. Everything moves forward at an alarming rate, with training progress as well as the defeating of enemies. It's as if Seishi already has grown tired of his new creation, wich leads to a shallow feel of the story and the characters. But sure, if you can't get enough of shounen manga, and you don't mind boring characters and a bleak story, then this is for you. To the rest of you; Stay far away. |
