Koisuru Michiru Ojousama review

TL;DR: It sucks. Really sucks.

After finishing Tsurezure children, which for the most part I adored, I couldn't be more excited to see what else that the mangaka had done. Unfortunately for me, that led me to this absolute disaster.

While Tsurezure had some issues with writing and pacing, and not all the characters were totally great, it managed through almost all of its run to be charming, funny, heartwarming and engaging. What totally shocked me, was the fact that in comparison, this manages to be significantly worse in every aspect of it's painful existence.

The art is bland really, the character design is ugly and trite. The background art is boring and unexceptional.

The humour is........well it isn't actually. It's not funny, at all. Tired and well worn manga romance "jokes" are all this even attempts to offer.

The dialogue and writing are completely throwaway. Like the humour, it's everything you've read before and have grown to hate.

The characters are what really seal the deal however. Everything else simply amounts to a poor, but otherwise forgettable, rom-com. But holy shit, these characters suck. I just hate them. I hate them so much. Not as in I love to hate them, where seeing them get their comeuppance would be a joy, I just hate them. I don't want to learn about them, I don't want to see them grow and develop, I just want them gone.

How do you write something as delightful and charming and thoughtful as Tsurezure Children, and at the same time, produce something as abominable as this. Just skip this, don't suffer like I did.
