Magatsu Wanashi no Yuushagari

This manga tries too hard to be edgy, and at the same time throws boatload of "shocking" content at reader. Meaning extreme violence, gore, sexual content, villainous characters that don't have any shred of humanity, and dramatic shouting.

It is similar to "Kaifuku jujutsu" and "Fukushuu wo Koinegau Saikyou Yuusha wa". Except there's no revenge, just a nutty protagonist with an excuse to brutally murder insane antagonists.

The art isn't actually bad, but, the game has too many panels where something is thrown, moves rapidly, which creates a mess of "movement lines", and it gets so bad that it is barely possible to understand what is going on in some places. When characters are standing still, they're quite detailed.

By chapter 3 it seems to completley degraded into some sort of mess with a hint of possible harem elements in the future.... and frankly past that point I don't feel like checking it out past that point. Character motivation is shalow, portrayal is poor, the story premise had some potential, but they certainly didn't realize it.

Basically, there are mangas that do not have a very complex story, but throw boatload of gore and "shocking" material with tons of drama, and this is one of those manga.

Not recommended, unless you're into this stuff.

This review will primarily be focussed on why the ecchi scenes ruin it and will also have a spoiler for a later scene (and if rape makes you uncomfortable skip this review and manga)

The ecchi in this manga is horrendous, it infests and degrades the rest of the experience. The existance of the rampant amount of ecchi brings wih it tone problems, doubt about whether the author is just getting themselves off or not, inconsisent character writing and a host of other problems. For an example I am going to use the orc blackmail-drug-rape-mindbreak scene that is in one of the latest chapters. The scene is about the female mc (which I actually like, she seems like she has a lot of potential and I enjoy the plot direction shes going with "Im a princess who barely went to the outside world" to "im competent") getting cornered by a guy who she thought was her ally and being blackmailed into becoming his woman (couldnt think of any better wording, wife felt wrong and concubine also felt wrong for it) and then raped by him. Without going into detail basically she gets raped and then she gets drugged because orc semen is apperantly an aphrodesiac in this world. Problem no.1 this scene doesnt need to exist if you want a plotline like this all you need is for the orc to say is "become my woman and then we will reclaim the demon territory , without me you wont stand a chance" boom, I just fixed a stupid plot-point and cut down the needed artwork of 2 chapters for more important stuff. This also leads to another problem I have with this manga that being tonal whiplash. Because after this the hero comes in and chops off the guys dick, Because foccussed a lot of his magic energy into his dick (no I am not joking) he becomes weakend and then the female mc SAYS THAY HE'S NOT DEAD BUT HE'S WEAK. To start a tiny tangent why would you not restrain him or double tap his skull. But anyway this is played for laughs because his dick was just chopped off and he named it, despite the fact that second earlier the tone was that of seriousness (for obvious reasons). Anyway then he re-gains his power and a stupid scene plays out where I couldnt tell if it was supposed to be funny or not, where the guy breaks through metal traps and weapons using his dick as a blunt object (no I am not joking).

This isnt even the only rape scene too. Theres a femdom-yandere-neotari scene before this and if you include the "re-education panels then theres 3 in total.

Overall dont read this.

I went into this manga with decent expectations. The summary that I had seen before reading included a bad ass main character who outsmarted his enemies through the use of dungeon death traps. The two leads had amazing designs, and the premise of a trap maker working for a demon princess absolutely captured my attention, yet, this manga managed to shatter my expectations in the worst possible way within eight chapters. Over time, I realized over and over that this manga wants to continuously throw in terrifying r*pe scenes. Explicit, bloody, horrible r*pe scenes. And it doesn't stop. There are about three or four of these scenes in the eight chapters that I read. That is way too many rape scenes, and they serve no purpose other than what I'd describe as shock value, some weird fetish, or a lazy way to cause conflict. I'm not against the use of sexual assault in stories. These kinds of acts are real and people deal with the trauma of it every day. But, the way that these scenes are presented and the purpose they serve is hollow and disturbing. It's horrendous r*pe scene after r*pe scene. I thought the characters and plot may pull through, but the more I read, the more disgusted I got. This manga is a major disappointment and an insult. Don't read it. It is trash.
