Tasogare Otome x Amnesia 's review
A romance between a ghost and a guy who can see and talk to ghosts, together they're gonna investigate every supernatural mystery happening in their school but not just that, what cause Youko's death, who killed her and why she is still a ghost and can't go to heaven are facts that need to be investigated as well, since she can't remember these facts Seems to be fucking awesome I don't see mangas like that so often and I was anxious to read this.
One day Niiya, our dear protagonist, met Youko, she is normally invisible to people, except for Niiya and some other guys due this Youko was so lonely and both of them started hanging out together, pretty cute. They formed a club to solve supernatural mysteries that occur in the school. Here is when not only the story begins but also the problems. The saddest part is that the are no such mysteries, in fact they're other's people prank on the students. Besides Youko, there is no supernatural event and this broke my expectations since I was expecting ghosts, devils and these beings. I don't know if I expect much though. Another thing is that this manga leads you to consider the existence of these kinds of being due to its art, the ambiances are usually dark and the shades have been abused to create a dark environment. The plot interlaces in solving these "school's mysteries" and Youko's past. Her story engaged me but the other mysteries didn't, they turned out to be completely predictable, you know its just someone's prank. Other characters don't add much though, Momooe is completely one dimensional, she is in love with Teny and most of her actions are solely driven to please him. I'm may be wrong here but from what I can remember she just him in investigations because she thinks he will be happy is see the problems solved. Other one is Kirie who just happens to have feelings for him, her solely presuppose was to bring out Youko's sister to the story to help solving her death's mystery. At the end of the day, this manga felt to be the usual harem rom-com we see every day out there. Shy and introvert protagonist with his harem. |
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia 's review
"This school was built on forbidden grounds. Grounds that were cursed and greatly feared by the people. To appease the curse, a live human sacrifice was made. A young female student was chosen for the ritual. Somewhere in this school lies the girl who acted as a human pillar."
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, The Dusk Maiden of Amnesia. What can i say about this series? What kept me reading and wanting more? To start off with, ill say that i personally love stories involving the occult with a hint of mystery and a dab of suspense and romance. TOA's story involves all the above mentioned aspects the mysterious ghost of a girl who was said to of disappeared years ago, the young boy who finds said girl and both attempt to uncover her past. This got me hooked on the this manga, what kept me going was the author's ability to provide me with a mystery that I wanted to seek the answer of. The art of TasoOtoAm, is superb. The mangaka has done some H works and because of that, he/ she knows how to add an extra dose of sexiness to our female lead, Kanoe Yuuko. In the world of TasoOtoAm we have Yuuko, and outgoing girl who was met with an unfortunate end and Niiya Teiichi, the only person who can see Yuuko, these two stand out in the series. As you read the series you'll come to love Yuuko, trust me. Overall, i am enjoying this series and i hope many more chapters will grace us. If you love occult romances, Yuuko the Dusk Maiden of Amnesia shall be waiting. |
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia 's review
This manga is a genuinely heartbreaking read with a really good twist as a premise.
Story: While the story isn't overly complicated, the pacing and refinement is top notch. The climax of the story is also ridiculously staggering, leaving a lot of emotions behind in the aftermath. There's nothing quite like this, being honest. Art: The art is great for the most part, but there's a few weird anatomy issues in some panels that break the illusion of being immersed. Characters: The interactions between characters is well done, and enjoyable. The only aspects I didn't quite enjoy was the ecchi, but I'm also glad it didn't devolve into a harem. This manga has a climax that genuinely leaves behind a lot of emotional baggage. It would be a shame to miss out on this series, solely for that reason. |
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia 's review
Well, while this is my first review here, i cannot say that this will be a great deal of a review!
To be fair and honest, i really enjoyed very much this manga, quite funny, with some good moments to laughs. The characters blend very well with each others, though it can a appear one or two that has a very low profile and we expect a little bit more further, but that's ok! The artwork seemed very nice! what can i say? it is what it is, amazing schoolbuilding drawings, with a pinch or two of external references, with great criativity and skill. With no further delays, i will finish this, recommending to anyone who wants to read a very good and supernatural romance, with good mystery in all chapters! My final opinion in the last page was to turn it over and over again.... thinking.... i want to read more! Very good Manga! Going to see the anime of course, and then i will review the anime as well, comparing the series. Stay well and have fun! |
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia 's review
This one of the few mangas where the journey is actually the best part while the ending(besides the the epilogue) is also alright.
The story is nothing new at all it has been done countless times the difference is that it is actually enjoyable at all times, because there is no love triangle/harem story in it which does plague the genre with ghosts in it. You don't have 5-30 wasted chapters just to indroduce another love interest. The art does have it's issues too, it's rather obvious that the mangaka wasn't able to get chapters done till the deadline and because of that there are a lot of chapters with just sketches and basic drawn panels and no background at all. The story itself is enjoyable all the time it just sadly lacks when the endgame starts and is getting serious. The resolve of the main story just feels a bit lackluster and a certain character never got any punishment or redemption for the horrible things he/she did. It also had a rather realistic view on a character pattern most ppl absulute hate, - The "Thot" character which is in this show resembled by Kirie, she is constantly trying her best to get the ML away from the FL just for her own gain but does it in a way which is not over the top with schemes or annoying but rather realistic and understandable. The ending itself also does lose a lot of impact thanks to the following two 0.5 chapters which more or less retcon the original(and way better ending) just for the sake of a completly unbelieveable happy disney ending. Don't get me wrong it was enjoyable to read and while it never had any real impact I liked it alot. |
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia 's review
This is a good manga, even though the story is a pretty straightforward ghost story, mixing some eastern and western ideas about ghosts with a touch of urban legends and creepypastas. Nothing special about the romance element as well, there are plenty of books about otherworldly romances out there (they're usually called paranormal romance, if you're interested in the genre) and this story does nothing different on that aspect.
No, Tasogare Otome has no groundbreaking story, new ideas or original approaches. What it has is efficient storytelling, good characters and outstanding art. Maybe has a beautiful style, with a good grasp of narrative and a knack for keeping the delicate balance of a romcom/horror story, which require completely different art styles and narrative choices. This is one good artist. So, should you read it? Well, if you enjoy ghost stories, as I do, you'll like it. Same thing if you enjoy romances or school-related stories with a touch of mystery. But, honestly, it's not something you'll regret missing, so, if you're short on time, go for other manga. |
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia 's review
tl;dr: A manga with a really good central relationship and mystery told with good tone and atmosphere, that although pretty different from the anime is just as good and very much worth reading as well.
This is a manga for which I’ve already seen the anime for. Contrary to what I expected, the anime despite only being 13 episodes long and being released before the ending of the manga actually adapts the entirety of the manga more or less. However, it does it in a pretty interesting way that I find it hard not to talk about. Both the anime and manga show the slowly developing romance between Yuuko and Teiichi incredibly well with it being really easy to get heavily invested in their relationship. Both also show a solid amount of character development in both of those two and make Yuuko incredibly likable, and also do a decent enough job with side characters. Both are centered around an interesting mystery that’s well told. Both manage their tone and atmosphere with a good blend of horror and comedy incredibly well. And both build up to very satisfying conclusions. However, how both of them do each of those things is very different. The anime has far less content than the manga, choosing to only adapt the key portions in quick succession, while the manga has a lot more surrounding those key moments. This leads to the anime having a lot of impactful moments that change things tremendously and lead to a lot of suspense for the viewer, while the manga has a much slower build up that slowly draws the reader in, both with the core relationship and the core mystery. The pacing is completely different, but each works well for its medium. This also results in the side characters being mostly glossed over in the anime in favor of focusing on the main relationship which definitely worked to the anime’s benefit, while in the manga the side characters get a decent amount of focus which works much better with the manga’s pacing. The tone and atmosphere in the anime rely on both the very fitting art and music, while in the manga it obviously relies on only the art, however the manga does things with the art that the anime wouldn’t be able to do, at least without the crazy stuff Shaft sometimes pulls. But what most stood out for me was the ending. As the anime ended before the manga, the ending to the anime was essentially original, though as the core of both endings is pretty much the same I suppose the author told them how it would end. Or rather, a better way to put it would be that for the most part the ending is the same, but what led to the ending is completely different. Without going into spoiler territory, the buildup to the ending in the anime relies heavily on a sequence involving an insert song that is tremendously impactful. The manga on the other hand doesn’t have anything like this sequence, instead focusing on something completely different that doesn’t happen in the anime at all. The way it’s done in the manga, while close, isn’t as impactful as how it happened in the manga, but how it was handled in the manga wouldn’t have really worked in the manga at all. However, the manga manages to give a decent length and very satisfying epilogue, while the anime has one that’s like more of a side story focusing solely on being amusing over any substance due to it being a separately sold OVA. Both endings were handled incredibly differently, but I came out of both thinking they were incredibly well done, as I thought regarding the works overall. |
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia 's review
Well after reading this I really had to think about the existence of ghosts. I've never believed in ghosts, and I still don't, but damn, I really want to.
"Tasogare Otome x Amnesia" otherwise known as Dusk Maiden of Amnesia is a school romance of a human male and a female ghost. I think the reason I actually loved this so much was that so many other authors have failed at ghost x human relationships, but not this time. This is a success. A brilliant success. The story is great, an occult research club investigating the seven mysteries of their school, sounds generic but this time one of the people investigating is actually the center of all seven mysteries. Not only that but Yuuko, the ghost, does not remember how she died, or how she became a ghost. Now though, someone has come along who can see her, and is not afraid, but rather the opposite. Teichi Niiya is the protagonist in this, and does he have a keen eye for mysteries. Especially with each mystery unravelled they find out more about Yuuko's past. Anyway, I don't want this to be long so I'll just say this. If you are looking for something different and you are not sure what, read this. For me, this was a 10/10. I don't give many high ratings but this one honestly deserves it. |
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia 's review
~~~~~~~*This review contains a FEW spoilers*~~~~~~~~
When I came upon this manga, i saw a romance tag under it. So I gave it a shot. (Im a Typical romance genre reader.) I would say that in whole , the manga focuses more on the story. And for the romance , comes in second. If is not for the romance , i might.. had lost interest in it. Not saying the story is not good, but im typically not into 'horror' types. Even for a 'horror' stories that i dislike among, this manga becomes one of my favourites. I will try to keep the review as short and as less spoilers as possible. Story : 8 The storyline had actually made me read on non-stop till the end. It gives me a sense of urge to find out. That the full series of the manga occupied my whole free time. Partly of the reason why i've enjoyed it. In this manga , we have the Main male protagonist , Teiichi Niiya who is the only guy in the Paranormal Investigation Club. - solves supernatural stuffs such as 'ghosts' etc etc. (in the later chapter, he recruited new members). While the main female protagonist, 'Dusk Maiden' - 'Yuuko' who've died 50 years ago in the school, thus a 'ghost' , which the rumors in the School spread as 'One of the seven ghost mysteries' . Teiichi, was solving 'One of the seven ghost mysteries' . How they met were in one of the rooms and saw each other after looking though the mirror coincidentally. Only Teiichi, was able to see her. (The story did not explain why Teiichi was the only one that can see her) (In the later part , there would be another girl who can also see her.) And this is when their story starts. Art: 10 Wonderful Art. Characters were well drawn . Even the ghosts drawn looked scary enough to freak me out. Characters: 8 Overall, all of the characters are kinda cute which makes it look like a normal School life ROMCOM . The female protagonist is my most favorite . She still acts so cheerful and lives like a normal high school student. Even feeling jealous at other girls with Teiichi, leading her to seduce him . While the male protagonist is quite shy when it comes to relationships . But super serious when it comes to solving mysteries. Enjoyment: 9 Really enjoyed it . And the extra chapter was a bonus. Makes me feel like I've really completed it rather than feeling unsatisfied. Satisfied with the romance, equally the mysteries are well-ed entertained. And a the moments where Yuuko is seducing Teiichi . Love it. Overall: 9 I find it compatible with the horror , mystery and romance. They actually blend in quite well! Although some Manga(s) with mysteries alone are really good. And oh, btw, theres a little ecchi in it. So enjoy the fanservice! Thus , as a Romance reader myself, this manga wont let you down. P.S ( 1st Review i ever written. ) EDITED* |
