Death Note review
It's actually a 9.5/10 for me. The series is masterpiece, no doubt. The series is really unique on its own. It is definitely one of the best and most unique suspense crime thriller with a supernatural twist to it. And then the philosophical concepts in the series made it even better with also slight touches of humor, action, and cheesy romance. At no point I felt that the manga was boring at all. I was hooked to it through out. Has some really memorable characters, each character in the series has been given an appropriate amount of personality, attention and screen time. The art really works well with the story. The series does has some minor flaws but when it comes to the good stuff then I must say that there is 100 times more good stuff than the bad stuff hence, this series is a masterpiece.
My Scores:-
Story: 10
Art: 8.5
Character: 9
Enjoyment: 9.5
Overall: 9.5

My Flaws (Spoiler Alert!):-

1. At very few places I felt that the way L or Near, when they were trying to figure out Light's plans, it felt like they were only able to so because 'the plot requires it'. E.g. : The assumption by L that a second Kira exists could have been written in a way where first he feels like Kira is acting odd and then later on could have made a guess that maybe a second Kira exists but in the manga he firsts says that a second Kira exists and then when he gives the reasoning which feels like it was as because the plot required so. (Please read/reread that part yourself to really understand what I mean :-) )
Otherwise I was very convinced by the ways L and Near used their minds to decipher the Light's plans.

2. There were no cameras in the Yotsuba building in my opinion was stupid. Like which big company does not need security? I would have been more convinced if Wedy (the girl responsible for breaking trough the security/surveillance could have just said that she was able to breakthrough the security systems instead of saying that there was no security/surveillance at all.

3. I felt that there was a need of a chapter after every major arc of the manga which would have shown us the aftermath of the previous arc. Especially after L's death. As he dies, we are straight away given a glimpse of Near which then steals away the feeling that whether now Light will finally be able to rule the world or not. I think they should have shown him after or at the end of the chapter after L's death in which we would been shown the aftermath of L's death and how the situations are. Sure we are shown the time-skip and that how after 3 years of L's death there has been an increase in Kira supporters but then because we were shown Near earlier, it stole the feeling of suspense and also kinda gives us a bore effect that straight away we are back into a big arc. A light story arc is kinda necessary when it comes to series where the plots are very heavy as to give us a smooth transition towards the next arc. This kinda also puts less pressure on the audience while they are watching/reading.

4. Mello's character design was kinda too feminine. It really made me confused while reading the manga. At first glance I was sure that it was a female but then I saw that the characters were referencing Mello as 'he, his , him' , that is when I realized that Mello was a male. I dont find in anyway necessary for Mello to have a feminine look.

5. Light is not shown interacting with his family after his father died, which in my opinion was necessary as his family played a very big role in the first half of the series and even before his father's death. The writer should have shown a little interaction within the family members as to what happens to them after Light's father dies except for that one phone call which was shown around Christmas /new-year (not sure which one of the both was it).

6. After Rem dies, the ownerships of the death notes keeps changing which kinda confuses us. I had to rewind myself with almost the whole story in my mind to finally figure out the ownerships of the Death Notes at certain points in the story. It would have been better in my opinion if they would have atleast given a proper explanation about the ownership and whether how even after losing a certain notebook Light will not lose his memories. This explanation should have been given especially after Light's father's death.

7. Near's character was needed to be more interesting and needed to have more of his own personality. I did not like the fact that he was too much like L, even though he was his heir, in m opinion he still should have had his own unique personality and this is the reason many people don't find the second half of the series as interesting as the first half because first of all, we get a repetition of one vs one stuff and then even that with a less interesting character, it kinda can then give little bore effect. In my opinion both halves were very interesting but it was just that they were slightly different from each other. Like the first half of the series is a little more fast paced than the second half. But slower pacing does not necessary means that the the particular story-line is boring/not-interesting. I think the problem was Near's character. Only if his character was a little more unique and interesting then even after that little slow pacing, people would have equally enjoyed the second half as the first half. I personally enjoyed both halves equally as I was aware as to why some people found it not interesting and so it was easier for me to just forget about the problem with Near's personality and keep enjoying it. Though there were some unique aspects that I loved about Near too but as he was such an important character to the plot and that the writer decided to repeat the one vs one concept, it was necessary for him to be a little more unique and interesting.

I cannot write the good stuff of the series because the series juts has too many good things in it. This series no doubt a must read for all.

Twelve Nights review
What a refreshing revenge story. You expect it to go down the cliché tropes of things turning out for the best at the last moment and everyone gets their own happy ending, alas…

Once I started reading this, I thought this was meant to be a comedy with a story, because the first season is riddled with misunderstandings that could rival a soap opera. They all have the same source, more or less, with the main 3 characters not knowing the true identity of the other characters and thus, missing important details. It honestly gets hilarious the more you read the first season despite the more serious background of usurping and reclaiming the throne. So, it is natural to expect that the rest of the story will follow the same path and then a solution will appear to everything, everyone laughs, maybe there is a loss here and there, but there is a happy-ever-after.

Yet the story never came down that predictable road as it made those silly misunderstandings into real problems and situations that the characters could no longer escape from and it is a bit astounding that it managed to keep up with it. The main triangle of characters consists of the fallen prince who wants to avenge his family, the childhood friend that treasures a past memory and sticks to the third character, the emperor, who is irresponsible with many childhood issues. The balance among them is so fragile, but none of the 3 really understands it until it becomes too late. How far can you follow your goal while ignoring your heart?

The supporting cast brings the entire kingdom to life and it truly becomes a war behind the scenes with politics becoming a very important facet of the story. The creator had said that due to length, she had to cut down some characters and I assume that meant the focus on existing characters, which in the end turned out for the better, because the subtle history of some characters were enough to give flavor to the story and make it more whole. You do need to explore everything at the same amount to have a good story.

Then comes another surprise as the ending provided a double unexpected twist, which covered some holes in the story that weren’t important enough to truly think they were on purpose. However, it only meant that thought was given to details that were half-hidden to not raise any suspicion.

Art-wise, the webtoon is fully coloured, yet the design is both simple and detailed enough. Almost every character is distinct with different expressions and details, yet somehow the general look lacks detail. The backgrounds are surely simple, it almost feels like everything fades away in a sense, probably because the colors most of the time are not so vibrant, but it is still pretty pleasing to the eye.

All in all, a very surprising historical drama that managed to escape the usual mold and albeit a few convenient flaws, it provided a solid story with some very tragic characters that do not always get a happy end but a satisfying one.

Imouto: Akane review
This is going to be a short review to express what i think from the first 3 chapters that i have read of imouto-akane.

First of all, its about two siblings that have no blood relations splitting up 3 years prior to the story. we find out that they split due to their parents dying. Now the Older brother has promised that he will save 1 million yen, and then retreive akane. whom he has left in the custody if his aunt and uncle.
the basis of the story i have no problems with, your sterotypical "no blood relation" sibling love (which is hinted may i enphasise as there is no evidence shown yet). however this falls downhill from the start, when he finds her its all downhill from there, we see scenarios of student teacher bullying, attempted rape. and scumbags sending akane to a brothel to pay debt.
for someone that has read and enjoyed yume de aetera (same author) this fails in comparison, the light hearted simple yet cute romance is bludgeoned with fraudsters, raping perverts. and this just didn't suit my tastes

Art however is a different story, nice and crisp, different to what you see from most manga's and generally feels nice to read. the artists impression of characters also clearly show you their personalities and traits, which for me was dissappinting as the main character looked like an ass. in addition to that, the "baddies" in the story up to now, looked like middle aged stalkers on drugs, the worst thing is that up to now, almost all the characters fall into this catergory.

I really cant say i enjoyed this manga as you can tell from the points i have given it, by all means give it a try and have a feel for it. because im pretty sure it'll lead to a fairly decent romance/drama and comedy manga, but for now, its definately not meeting expectations.

Ill keep reading for another couple of months and see how it goes, hopefully it'll become a good manga in the future.

Hisshou Dungeon Unei Houhou review
Hisshou Dungeon Unei Houhou - Story 8, Art 8, Characters 7, overall 8

This is a surprisingly good manga that shines with its world building and politics while also being silly and strange. You might be upset by its low score and other reviews, but if you like the mentioned aspects and are able to cope with some harem and ecchi stuff you will be rewarded with an interesting story and an unique take on the Isekai formula. Just note that it still is an isekai that is mostly concerned with the main setting even if it includes a political story and world building .

+ Main points: Interesting political story, enough amount of world building, Characters are given realistic stories, Art
- Weaknesses: Strange genre combination, Expects readers to have a basic understanding of politics, Some characters are unecessary, Basic Isekai concepts are not explained

Since this review is mostly in defense for this manga i will try to explain why some of its apparent weaknesses are actually worthwile features. Spoilers are marked with *

Story and overall premise:
Basic premise is that the MC is in charge of a dungeon and gets entangled into political complications early on while trying to build a safe town out of his dungeon. This premise is a bit confusing at start since one might not expect the story to take on a political direction so early. But it ensures that there will be enough world building, characters and difficulties to make the story interesting from the beginning. Certainly the basic story is nothing unique or extraordinary, but it is presented and arranged in a interesting and unique style. In the first few chapters (chapters 1-4) you have enough political corruption, confusion and parties involved that would be enough for more than one volume. From there on the story slows down a bit to make room for character introductions and harem scenes, which are mostly fine (chapter 5-10). In between are some smaller story arcs that enrichen the overall setting (11-16). And it will evolve into more complex political story arcs after that (chapter 17-19). Overall the story is fine and serves the purpose of the world building and management of the village which are the main focus of this manga. Also the story advances at a very quick pace.

If you are not convinced of the quality of the story by this abstract overview, i will give a short summary of the events of the first few chapters in the following (there are spoilers for some chapters, so please skip the next paragraph if you are not interested in it; marked within **)
*The first story arc resolves around a captured princess that is the victim of a political coup. This princess did get targeted by a neighboring nation because of her title as a holy maiden that is standing beyond other maidens. After accompaniying a unit of soldiers devastating a village against her will, she gets caught by those former villagers. She is brought by those villagers to the dungeon to get rid of her. After MC saves the princess and solves the misunderstandings of the different parties the princes and the villagers return to the capital to find out about the circumstances of the coup. The princess saves herself and her sister from a new assault and is hiding inside the dungeon with the MC. The king launches an attack against the dungeon in order to save the princesses. The dungeon master manages to defeat the soldiers, inform the king about the corruption, defeat the corrupted politician and secure his position within the realm. After that MC starts to rebuild part of the lost villages inside his dungeon with various slaves. It is from then on that the stories turns more into an slow paced city management and harem story. Later this will be enriched with more political stories. (Note this is the story of chapters 1-5. I did rearrange the story in order to make it easier to understand.)*

Pacing:
The story progresses very quickly in the first 4 chapters. This is in some sense a weakness and a redeeming quality. The weakness is that the manga expects you to understand a large number of events that is thrown at you in an instant and conclude relevant information from it. Maybe this is something readers that are not interested in more political oriented mangas will not understand and the explanations will appear to them confusing or nonsensical. This is not primarily the fault of these readers, since the manga does not aid much with some of the more complex explanations. I still think that one should not critize it unnecessary, since it does explain most relevant things even if not very carefully. You probably should just read it slowly and be focusing on the political intricancies.
Because the manga throws alot at you in a short time, it also might look like it is not able sustaining this large amount of information. Like some mangas that fail with their world building because they never use the settings again and do not show its relevance or expand it. This is not the case with this manga. Some information will become unecessary due to changes in the setting, but it will expand other aspects. This of course might change later and the series might become a full harem comedy if it is not treated with care, but at the current it does not look like that.

World building:
The world building is done better than in most other Isekais. This is not because the world is unique or especially interesting, but because it is explained enough, expanded upon and tied within the story of the characters. Other Isekais often skimp on this parts of the world building and just leave it at the scenery and mention some interesting details. This is why Isekais like 'Bofuri', 'Only sense Online' or 'Sword art Online 1' fail to have significant world building. They have some interesting concepts and ideas but do not utilize them and invest into them. 'Hisshou' does most of it better without being in need of an unique setting.
If you compare the world building and political story to other Isekais then it is most similar to Shield hero (minus the shield hero and the other unique stuff). It probably is on par with the beginning of Re:zero manga number 3, while re:zero of course evolves into a bigger series later. You will be fine with this one If you feel comfortable somewhere around these marks.

Genre combination and strange stuff:
One thing that affects the quality of the manga is the difference between it complex political events and the feeling it preserves of being a silly harem manga that does not take itself too serious. It certainly is a strange combination and it sometimes runs into difficulties sustaining the balance between this aspects. It still manages to tie in both together on a regular basis and make the harem scenes appear as a more or less natural part of the setting.
The manga also does expect you to have read one or more other dungeon master, MMO or Isekai mangas and an economical or political manga, since it does not explain some of the core concepts of adjusting a dungeon, getting dungeon points, interacting with adventurers and managing a city state society very well. This is certainly a weakness of the manga. Since it does not have to explain all of the basics that one might already understand, the manga is able to advance very quickly as I mentioned earlier. So it might also be a good aspect of it.
One other strange part is the ability of the MC to use items from modern japan to have a technological advantage, like using cellphones during warfare or a armored vehicle for traversal. This is sometimes just for comedic reasons or silliness (bathroom and food), but also has the power creep component at its core. This is not unusual for Isekais and it is not used in any redundant fashion. MC does not use his advantage in most relevant events, but tries to use the things around him. So it is an obvious component, but it is less relevant than his special abilities due to being a dungeon master and having princesses as capable advisors.
It is strange that this manga does only have an average score while doing some interesting things. One of the reasons probably are its mislabeled genres. It is labeled as action fantasy harem while it mostly is a slice of life political manga. The harem aspects are not solely about comedy and are more in accordance with seinen harems, which also might irritate some readers (like portraying difficulties in partnerships and expectations). Also a lack of an useful synopsis might be irritating. Lastly its strange combination of genres is probably its main oversight. These are all things that are not mainly a failure of the manga, but a difficulty within the community. I guess, that the part of the community that would be interested in this, did not find out about it or is appaled by some of its strange genres. Also there are some things, that just do not appeal to individual persons like the lolis or realistic warfare. It still manages to appeal on many levels and should be given credit for this. And if you look at the scores of the novel you see that it is a bit more lenient and stays around 7 points (taken from the stats site of the novel), in my view a better assesment.

All in all this manga does a strange combination of requiring the reader to be attentive and interested in a political setting while dismissing some of the expected seriousness for its harem comedy. If you are able to appreciate these different aspects of it, you might be very pleased with this one. If you do not like slice of life world building and political stories or do not like ecchi harem and silly Isekai juice you might be iritated by the inclusion of one or the other.

Ijimeru Yabai Yatsu review
“I can’t process what just happened” -Katou

Unironically this quote ripped directly from the anime is pretty much a complete description of the entire manga and for some reason I love it.

Venus Puts Fur On Me is one of those manga that confuses you just as much as it entertains, questions fly in and out of your head as you read through each page which weaves an ever-growing net of in your mind. As a warning, in order to actually be able to read and enjoy this you’ll have to be able to sit through some pretty messed up stuff and be able to leave a bunch to the imagination, as I’ve noticed that these are the things that put people off of the most.

Minor Spoilers Below, Skip to the end for a basic tl;dr

Story 7

The story is a mess of ideas that sometimes, if you’re lucky, MIGHT make a little bit of sense, but it is worth mentioning that the manga is still being updated so these loose ends might eventually be tied up. My personal favorite parts are those little glimmers of hope, things start going well for the main character and for a brief moment (usually less than a chapter in length) it seems like the future is looking up only for it to come crashing down immediately. (It’s kind of like the good scenes in Re: Zero)

Art 8

There’s a lot to be desired, the characters are bland and generic and most of the characters look exactly like each other with small details. The largest example is between Shirosaki (main antagonist) and Aoyama which are direct copies of each other with the only change being the color of their hair. That being said I only gave it an 8 because Nanakajima’s face is 100% the best part of this entire show. His switches between villain and victim are perfectly displayed on his face.

Character 6

No one in this manga is normal, even Tanaka who seems like he has his head on straightest has a couple of problems. This is the core of the manga’s largest issue: its believability. Of course a work of fiction doesn’t need to be the most realistic thing ever but when it’s obvious that there’s almost no reason for a character to act the way they are or when the explanation is flimsy at best it serves only to pull you out of the story. I’m the kind of person that can overlook such flaws as long as the series isn’t finished and can eventually be explained but if you aren’t that kind of person you probably won’t have that good of a time.

Enjoyment 10

Despite how screwed up everything is and the manga’s blatant flaws I really can’t help but read it. It’s been a very long time since I’ve actually enjoyed theorizing about a manga. Trying to predict how a character will act and how it’ll influence the story is the best part about reading an ongoing series and for now this remains among my top 5 favorite manga of all time.

Overall 7

TL;DR I really didn’t expect to enjoy a mediocre manga as much as I did. As I said earlier there’s a lot you’re going to have to overlook and stomach in order to enjoy this manga. That being said once you get over the original shock of the first two or three chapters it really becomes a solid read that captivates your attention. I’d recommend this to the people who unironically liked “Happy Sugar Life” but didn’t think it was wild enough.

Shibou to Iu Na no Fuku wo Kite review
It seems that today’s society is obsessed with physical appearance and self-indulgence. People often judge others on their appearance; basing their treatment of others on attraction rather than a standard of human decency. Likewise, people are obsessed with the pursuit of their own happiness, to the point that they disregard the happiness of others and ignore the ugly realities of their situation in order to preserve their own self-satisfaction. This is the viewpoint taken by Moyoco Anno’s manga In Clothes Called Fat, the story of a fat woman living in modern Japan and her attempt at weight loss. It is an unflinching and harsh examination of the superficiality of physical appearance, and the extents of what a person is willing to put themselves through to attain even a semblance of happiness.

The story follows Noko Hanazawa, a plump office worker who eats away her anxiety. She binge eats whenever the stress in her life becomes too much for her to handle; a coping mechanism of sorts. “Eat to become stronger” she tells herself as she munches all her problems to the back of her mind. She’s self-conscious about her girth, but she isn’t too bothered by it. She’s satisfied with the few friends she has at work and her boyfriend of 8 years. However, things start to fall apart when she finds out that her boyfriend is sleeping with one of her co-workers, and a sequence of unfortunate events turn her personal and professional life upside down. What follows is a rollercoaster of misguided determination and insecurity, as Noko struggles to lose weight and get her life back in order.

In Clothes Called Fat is not a comfortable read, largely because the subject matter will hit close to home for a lot of readers. Like Noko, most people have their self-image connected to their physical appearance, at least to a certain extent. People have low self-confidence if they are constantly being told that they are fat or ugly or in some way physically undesirable, or if they perceive themselves in such a manner. This makes Noko very easy to sympathize with; especially when her life really goes south, dragging her deeper into a pit of insecurity and dissatisfaction. Her negative evaluation of herself and her constant need for the approval of others, namely her boyfriend, are as heartbreaking and relatable as they are self-destructive. In her desperate attempt to lose weight and win back her boyfriend, Noko overlooks or ignores the harm she is doing to herself. She even turns a blind-eye to the fact that her boyfriend is cheating on her until it becomes too apparent to ignore. By mid-way through the book Noko has lost a substantial amount of weight, but she’s no better off for it; ultimately trading one eating disorder for another.

However, Noko is not the only character that gets attention in the story, nor is she the only one with issues. Noko’s boyfriend, Saitou, has a rather unhealthy relationship with women. He seeks out beautiful and self-assured women whom he cheats on Noko with, but he’s also intimidated by such women and always comes back to Noko, whom he believes will love him unconditionally. Essentially, he is using his relationship with Noko to avoid confronting his own insecurities. The clear antagonist of the story, Noko’s co-worker Mayumi, is a manipulative sadist. Not only does she harass Noko for being overweight, she abuses Saitou when they have sex. Yet it is implied that even her actions stem from some sort of dissatisfaction; a compulsory need to put down others in order to feel superior. Two other girls who work with Noko seem to be friendly with her at times, but more often than not follow Mayumi in order to keep their own social standing. Later in the story, there are a few of Noko’s male colleagues who lament their place in society and pointlessly waste their days away. Every character in the story is dissatisfied about something in their lives, and Anno uses them to deliver broad, open-ended statements on society which don’t put the blame in any one place.

The art of In Clothes Called Fat is distinctive and attractive, and Anno doesn’t hold back depicting the human physique, making the manga decidedly for older readers. The art is somewhat similar to that of Kyoko Okazaki, whom Anno worked under for a time, and other Josei manga yet has a distinct flavor of its own. Most female leads in manga are drawn attractively, so the atypically fat and only marginally attractive Noko makes for a unique heroine. The images of Noko observing herself in the nude and her alarming change in appearance as she loses weight are the manga’s most striking images, along with the graphic sex scenes.

In Clothes Called Fat is not something everyone will want to read, but it absolutely deserves to be read. Admittedly, the story is not flawless, there are some extraneous plot threads and some characters that are frankly unnecessary. It also isn’t a very comforting read; even though Noko comes to a conclusion about her body by the end, it isn’t necessarily an affirming one. That said, this is a maturely told story which covers a very serious and very real issue. It examines eating disorders not only through a physical standpoint, but a through a psychological and a sociological angle as well. It is a painfully human tale of personal perception, and a disarmingly sharp critique of society’s superficial standard of beauty.
