TO LOVE-RU DARKNESS review

The art is spectacular, and that's because of Kentaro Yabuki's years of experience with his own manga, Black Cat. Yabuki-sensei truly blessed the readers with fanservice of the heroines' voluptuous figures. While the fanservice might be a bit overbearing, it's just something the reader needs to become used to because it's something that repeats until the end of the manga.

The cast is the same as it was in the prequel of the manga with the addition of two new characters. Each character has their own archetype with some overlapping characteristic, . Each girl gets their own focus, so it's great for fans that differ in their favorite girl. The main heroines shift from Lala and Haruna to former side characters in the original manga, Momo and Yami, and a newly introduced character, Mea. While the plot narrows in To Love-Ru Darkness, these three new leads add backbone to the story with an untold history which tells the readers how and why they're important to the plot.

For someone that enjoyed the original manga, which was just a simple romcom, To Love-Ru Darkness gave me more of a reason to love the series as a whole. I was already in love with the characters from the prequel, and the sequel just adds more depth and a different vibe from a mere romcom that it was originally. I would only recommend this manga if you're not bothered by constant fanservice and open to silly concepts.
